When this new all singing all dancing ticketing system was announced, I think I was pretty much a lone voice when expressing my dismay and concern - most seemed to regard it as either part of the inevitable 'progress' of becoming a League 1 club or a necessary crowd managemen tool to cope with the huge attendances we'll allegedly be attracting to every home game this season.
I don't buy either argument I'm afraid and if customer service was the primary aim - or should I say - keeping your home fans happy? then handing over the cash at the home turnstiles can surely not be bettered for convenience.
Having said this, I should emphasise that we've all understood, for many seasons, that the occasional big game might need to be ticketed and we're more than willing to deal with this occasion when it happens of course.
If the ticket handling charges are what it is said they will be on this thread, then I'll continue to pay at the turnstile on the day - and grumble about the two pound surcharge imposed on me for doing so and no, I won't be happy if someone tries to tell me that at least it's cheaper than collecting tickets.
The whole attitude strikes a chord with Dan F's post in the other section - explaining why he stopped coming to the Pirelli to watch BAFC games (tho I suspect his loyalty to the Shrews may have had a lot to do with it too)
And if minimum admission prices are subject to £2 or more surcharges, whether paid for in advance or on the day then the club should have the decency and honesty to declare it and tell us adult admission is £19 minimum. It should not play these devious shoddy retailer games with us - we deserve better than being taken for fools or cash cows for the club.
To be clear, I am not complaining about paying more to watch League One football - I expected to do so. - whether it be £17, £18, £19 or £20 (I had no reason to think anything other than that Ben would try to keep prices at the most reasonable level - as he has always done) I am objecting to hidden and unecessary add-on costs and inconvenience that detract from my enjoyment of watching the Brewers progress and am beginning to wonder if Mr Robinson has been poorly advised perhaps?

I agree Everard, I have never been in agreement when away clubs have done the 'on the day' surcharge, Hartlepool £5 for example and £2 at Oxford. If the cricket club down the road can absorb the cost (presumably by effectively naming all tickets a quid extra, maybe we could have done the same?

Just to add to the interesting comments raised so far on this thread, I recently celebrated *ahem* a birthday of a certain age and amongst my presents were 3 vouchers for tickets to home matches for the forthcoming season.
I've previously received these vouchers on other birthdays (when I was younger) :-)I don't know if anyone else has seen these vouchers, but these vouchers have a value chosen by the purchaser and the holder of the voucher exchanges this for a match ticket before the game. (Up to last season I was able to do this literally up until kick off).
The vouchers I recently received each have a value of £17. It seems that unless I go to the Pirelli to collect the ticket up to the day before the match, then whatever way I pay they'll be some sort of surcharge imposed when I exchange the voucher. Happy to be corrected if this is not the case.

But it was interesting for me to learn that you can get Albion match-day vouchers to give as gifts. - hardly a revolutionary idea but a good one for the Brewers to have.........tho I've never seen them advertised or promoted anywhere.........Is it just me that didn't know of their existence...?

I'm just wondering how it will all be received when KO comes around, after all it's a £4 rise on last seasons prices if paying at the turnstiles. I ain't bothered about that as I get in for just over £11 per match (season ticket) just thinking on the others that pitch up on the day, they don't all read stuff on websites like this and club sites. My mate will feel hard done to if going on what the above I've read is true. He will have to either travel from Derby and pick a ticket up or pay and get it delivered. I gather if he ordered and picked one up on the day of the match it more or less works out the same price, I'm not sure. All I could get out of the lady yesterday was there is a surcharge (by the bank) for using a card payment and a postage charge for if you wanted it sending. She went on to explain, it's all new and I'm not sure on everything. Ok give them time to adapt to the new systems but at least let's have some firm info to answer the questions posed. Another vague answer, "when are the new shirts in" .......I don't know. Anyways, I'm looking forward to a couple pre season friendly matches and the big KO August, 23 days to go.

To be honest I had not purchased a season ticket for a couple of seasons but when the new system was announced I decided to save myself a load of hassle and buy a season ticket. Obviously that is not an option to many for varying reasons. There will be teething problems I suspect as there is with any changes but I trust after a short period all will run smoothly.

Quick update on this. I decided to take the plunge It seems that the charges for shipping, handling etc...that come up as £2.50 when you first reach the "checkout" page disappear when you select either the collect (£1) or postage (£1.50) options. I've posted my confirmation page for the Scunthorpe match. As you can see I've selected the postage option and the only charge I've incurred on top of the ticket price is the £1.50 postage. I've had a bit of a play with it and it seems you can also now pay for your away travel on there as well.

Ticket came yesterday.
Despite my initial reservations and concerns over the pricing regarding the new online system I've found it to be easy to use with incredibly speedy delivery. I appreciate the ticket has only got to come from one end of the town to the other but I expected teething problems. Fortunately I've received my ticket with no complications whatsoever. So far so good and I'll definitely use it again.

Glad it's working OK.
Incidentally mail goes out of Burton then comes back in for delivery. Not as straight forward as just across the town.
Derby used to process all of DE13, DE14 and DE15 mail for example, now that process is handled in Nottingham.
A bit of useless info but there you go good service usually by Royal Mail.

We have to move with the times
Buying tickets in advance of the day should always be cheaper than buying on the day I believe as well
