We are apparently closing in on signing a German striker. 6ft 3in but not typical target man. 23 years old. Had a serious injury a while ago. Jimmy thinks he has potential.

I agree with terrace man on the contracts offers thread, could be a Nasser could be a Maletic.
However, definitely trust JFH, he may have discovered a real gem.

JFH's signings so far have either been very good or very bad IMO
It's clearly not rocket science and always a risk involved
This one could certainly go either way
I prefer the more proven and less risky ones myself for a club on a budget
But then we wouldn't have signed Nassr with that approach

Maletic and MAC, Cuvelier (to a much lesser extent) The first two looked very risky signings on paper when made and I think they contributed less than a handful of first team games between them As I said above you do have to take risks in football but both of these would IMO have actually been a big surprise had they worked Cuvelier was also very risky due to his recent injury history but at least he was proven as being a player with big upside when fit and more understandable I don't think Maletic and MAC were proven to be great upside players even when fit Working to a tight budget then reliability, attitude and constitution of a player is a big part of decision making process I would say It kind of proves that signing players is a very hit and miss process even for a successful team and manager

As you say there is always a risk attached to any signing. I don't consider getting injured as a bad signing but I hear your point about Maletic and MAC history. For me, Calero was the only bad signing, he had 6 appearances but it was only a months loan, as cover for Lucas when he was injured. Chris Weale, injured first week here and returned to Yeovil, never played Remi Matthews, one month loan, never played Scott Shearer, here for 3.5 months, never played Florent Cuvelier, played 7-8 minutes and tore his hamstring, out for season Callum Reilly, played 11-12 minutes and tore his hamstring, out for season Stefan Maletic, tore his hamstring first week in training, never played 1st team Kelvin Maynard, took a little time to adjust and played a bit before getting injured, then came back and was fairly good. MAC, was here for 2.5 months, injured his hamstring in 2nd or 3rd sub appearance, 5 appearances in total. Nasser, Naylor, both took a little time to adjust, never injured, brilliant signings Any others....?
