JIMMY Phillips hopes to secure a deal to stay in the Football League after being released by Burton Albion.
The 25-year-old winger was the longest-serving player with the Brewers until his contract expired this summer.
He is now looking for a new club and hopes it can be in the League – but accepts he could have to drop down.
"I was hoping to stay in the League – that would be my main aim," said the former Stoke City youngster, who ended last season on loan at Alfreton Town.

"But if circumstances dictate that I have to drop down to the Conference, I'm fully award that might happen and am prepared for that.
"I will try to work my way back up.
"But my main aim, though, is to try to stay in the League."
Phillips made 137 appearances after joining Albion in the summer of 2009 and was the club's last link to their first season in the Football League.
His final year at the club was ruined by a knee injury he picked up at Newport in April, 2014.
He is not dwelling on his bad luck and is instead focusing on the future.
"Obviously, you're bound to look back on it to a certain extent," said the popular wideman. "But I'm fully aware these things can happen in football.
"It's an unfortunate incident and you have to try not to dwell on it. It's been more than a year since it happened.
"You just have to try to overcome it and come back stronger, wherever that may be.
"You can't let it get you down. These things happen in football.
"It's not the end of the world in the grand scheme of things. The knee is good and the best it's been. It feels strong and I've not had a problem with it.
"I'm really happy with how it's healed and how strong it is now."
Phillips says leaving the Pirelli Stadium for pastures new will be difficult but is grateful for the time he has had with the Brewers.
"It's definitely a wrench," said the Cheadle-born fans' favourite.
"I made a lot of friends around the club. I made great friends with my team mates.
"It's difficult to leave after such a long time. I kind of grew up there since I was 18 or 19 – it's a long time in anyone's life.
"So it's been difficult to leave but I think I left at the right time – the club's on the up still."
