I don't know how many of you are aware that the England Non League team under the management of Paul Fairclough is under threat... This is part of the letter which I have just read in the Non League Paper and it puts it all into perspective ...
It was both reassuring and worrying reading The NLP last week. How uplifting to hear that Jamie Vardy and Charlie Austin are in the England Squad.
Their achievements having played non League football for a number of years and earned the right of being rightly applauded. It shows that you don't have to be an academy whizz kid or a talked about Premier League teenager to make a dream come true.
I read with interest their call up after having previously looked at your comments section...the FA have still to confirm the future of the Ebngland C Side.
How can they even be giving consideration to stopping this excellent production line to the football league and beyond, especially in light of the fact that non league football has just helped to supply player to the three lions senior squad?..........
I can't agree more. There are many ways in which we can encourage the emergence of home talent and this is undoubtably one. Indeed what worries me is that even Burton's growth will be acquired by the quick fix use of foreign players when there Are many young, hungry and very talented english (I am not interested in the Scott's, Irish or Welsh) players. Yes I agree that some players don't make it, but look at the group that played against us for Grays, most of which were signed to Peterborough. Then there are players like, Aaron Maclean, David Perkins, Adam Le Fondre, Lee Tomlin. I am not saying that everyone makes it going back to my origin point, or at least the point of the letter.. With so much money in the game, axing Englad C is stupid and short sighted.
