I think when Blatter gets re-elected on Friday it is time for us all to despair, maybe time to withdraw from FIFA until he departs...

I don't think it will happen, but the European members, should leave FIFA until it is properly and openly run, with full accounts showing total income and spending including all officers remuneration. South America, and North America should also follow suit in my opinion.

Update, 7 arrested, 14 indicted. The worm can has just been lifted, how the slippery snake avoided handcuffs is baffling, he probably provided damning info in return for immunity. Hopefully the Swiss will sort him out, people are already calling for his resignation. edition.cnn.com/2015/05/27/football/fifa-corruption-charges-justice-department/Edit: It has been reported that the vote for the new president on Friday could be suspended.

What a fine example and representatives they are for the World of football ! Blatter is the head of the organisation, this has happened under his watch, no way in this world he should be allowed to continue. I expect the vote to be delayed so Blatter can buy himself time to buy new votes.

I think he probably has already secured enough to carry him through whatever, who knows how all those nations have been 'persuaded' to continue their support. Maybe it is time for a radical move from UEFA and another of the federations.

He reminds me a little of J.Edgar Hoover, nothing sticks and I guess he must have too much dirt on others to be challenged.

Personally I think it is quite possible that Sep Blatter is innocent of any bribery. What he is most definitely guilty of is running an organisation which operates without transparency, and has allowed the current situation to develop. Therefore he must go. However, FIFA seem to be saying they called in the police to investigate corruption, and so they are doing exactly the right thing. Unfortunately the allegations allegedly go back at least 20 years. They have done nothing until it is far too late, other than deny their is a crisis and attempt to carry on regardless. Because his tenure has given money to lots of small countries to further football, (we don't know how this money has been spent as far as I know, although in principal it is good), this has bought him votes, because he is their hero. These votes can get him elected, whether there is corruption within FIFA or not. These small countries have equal voting value to the big footballing countries, and therefore are invaluable to Mr Blatter. There are 209 FIFA countries, (more than in the United Nations). It is truly time to despair, or maybe leave FIFA until it is more democratically organised and fully transparent.

Well it looks like the election will happen tomorrow and Uefa have said they will be there. On news today it was said that FIFAs financial book-keeping is comparable to what you would see at a local social club, almost non-existent for an organisation of that size.
David Ginola made a good point on Weds newsnight, he said UEFA should not abandon FIFA. Eufa could survive on their own if they did because they are big enough, but that there are many smaller orgs around the world that would suffer greatly if UEFA quit. He also said he would put his hat back in the ring as President if Blatter resigned.
The FBI have evidence of money laundering in Swiss banks, FIFA is based in Zurich, Blatter is Swiss, if he didn't know he should have known so he has to go.

The book keeping at Stretton Social Club is very good :-).

How ridiculous is that! The US justice department said the 14 indicted men were charged with racketeering, wire fraud and money-laundering conspiracies, claiming they had all participated in a “24-year scheme to enrich themselves through the corruption of international soccer”. “The indictment alleges corruption that is rampant, systemic, and deep-rooted both abroad and here in the United States,” Ms Lynch said. The officials allegedly received bribes and kickbacks from sports marketing firms in exchange for the commercial rights to football tournaments, including the World Cup. The DoJ said the amount solicited and received was well over $150m. edition.cnn.com/2015/05/27/football/fifa-corruption-charges-justice-department/

Well, both the FBI and Swiss investigations are ongoing so we can only hope they find the dirty on him. They won't get Blatter, because he is either naive, but as clean as a whistle, or too teflon coated to ever be caught. You have to hand it to him he's a surviver.

At least he has some vocal enemies now. In 2011 he was the only candidate won nran for the presidency. This time he had 73 members, or 35% of the eligible electorate, vote against him. I still suspect that he sold people down the river in exchange for immunity from prosecution.
