Hi, I'm the reporter for the Port Vale Fans Forum One Vale Fan. First of all congratulations on your superb season and promotion! Part of my role is to contact fans of our rivals new to the league for 2015/16 to ask them a few questions and gain their views on the season just past and next season in League 1 in order to produce a summer article which we release on the site. I wondered if one or more of you have a few minutes and would be prepared to share a few views if you would kindly offer your feelings on the game by answering the following few questions; THIS SEASON1. Best player this season (it can be more than one / with mentions of most improved etc.)? 2. Highlight(s) of the season on the pitch? 3. Worst moment(s) of the season on the pitch? 4. Sum up the season in a sentence or two. How have your team done in the 2014/15 campaign in general & in relation to what you expected at the start of the season? 5. Your view on off-field affairs this season? NEXT SEASON6. What are your expectations for next season (both ideally & realistically)? 7. Where do the club need to strengthen on the pitch? 8. If you could take one Port Vale player for next season who would it be? 9. What do the club need to do off-field to improve? 10. If you were granted one wish for next season, what would it be? Please also feel free to include any other information you feel worthy and I will knock it into a report. To enable me to produce this in good time I need a reply by Tuesday 26th May and the report should appear on the website a couple of days later. Please also let me know if you would like me to include your name on the article. Many thanks for your potential support in this matter. Best Regards, REP

Best Regards, REP 1 John Mousinho - great leader and very strong player 2. Playing great passing football by and large for a League Two club and winning at same time. 3. Very few lowpoints on the pitch although our results dipped off a bit when clubs started sniffing around Gary Rowett before he ended up at Birmingham City 4.We played superb in what was a highly competitive League. It seemed like every week there was a must win game and we kept delivering. Before season started I thought we should get automatic and needed to having missed out in playoffs for both seasons before. I never expected we would having lost Gary Rowett though. Who is a top quality manager. 5 Our owner (Ben Robinson) is superb (a very shrewd guy) and I doubt there is a club in lower league that is run better than our club. It is a very happy club on and off the field and the owner sets the tone. Our managers love working for our owner. 6. I expect top half at least but we may even surprise a few and flirt with playoffs. We won League 2 by 5 points and we do have momentum. I base this on JFH staying the season as he is a superb manager and has us playing great football. 7. A big target man who can score a bit would be good. Jacob Blyth was on loan last season and started to come good but got injured in latter end of season. Otherwise we probably just need more strength in depth. We aren't the type of club to throw silly money at anything though. 8. I don't know any of your players enough to say so would take a look at who your fans player of the year was and probably go for him (providing it's not a goalkeeper - as I always believe the fans of a club really know how to judge what a player gives a team). 9 If the club continues to be so successful on the pitch we will need more seating at the ground over time. We don't need any yet though. 10. Promotion to the Championship - its a big wish but we have a great manager, a great owner, a great club and a bit of momentum. So I will dream that. If you decide to use any of that then put it down to observer

I don't agree with some of the things you say Observer, but your above post pretty well sums up my thoughts exactly. Couldn't have said it any better

1. A number of players have been remarkably consistent and given there all for the cause. Stuart Beavon and Phil Edwards are prime examples. Also some exciting prospects such as Nasser Al Khayati and Matty Palmer.
2. Some great wins against higher opposition in the Capital One cup. Too many outstanding league wins to recount, but especially good when down to ten men! The fitness level of the team was tremendous. They simply got stronger and stronger as the season progressed with a real determination and intensity about their play.
3. In terms of low points nothing compares to that annihilation on our last visit to Vale Park. We performed well against our key rivals and had no major slip ups.
4. After the heartache of the previous two seasons, achieving automatic promotion was the dream. To win the league was an amazing achievement.
5. We were sorry to lose Gary Rowett and his management team. As usual the chairman acted with great dignity and backed his own judgement to give another young manager an opportunity. At this stage I thought it may become a season of consolidation while Jimmy Floyd adapted to league 2. Nothing of the sort as the club pushed on and Jimmy, along with David Oldfield, proved to be an inspirational appointment.
6. Traditionally Burton build step by step and I do not see that changing drastically next season. Adjusting to League 1 and staying there, hopefully comfortably, will suit us well.
7. The backbone of our team remain under contract and major changes are not expected. No doubt looking out for players with potential to develop as usual. Our training base at St George's Park remains a unique selling point for the club.
8. No longer familiar with Port Vale players - will be able to answer this question 12 months down the line.
9. Attracting bigger home attendances of our own and dealing with big away followings effectively at the Pirelli will be a challenge.
10. Gain the respect we deserve as a forward thinking, well managed club by those we beat!

Great summary woody
What I find interesting now in football is that "comfortably staying in a league"
Inevitably means that playoffs won't be that much more of a climb or difference in points
To be comfortable IMO we need to be top half of the League hence why I think flirting with playoffs isn't out of question with a bit of luck
I'm sure JFH is the kind to have that as a target as well

With four relegation places in League One compared to two in League Two I certainly want us to be top half of the League all season to feel comfortable

This Season 1. John Moushino, a great captain and a true leader who kept the lads totally focused right to very end. Most improved for me was Robbie Weir, when JFH moved him to the holding midfielder role he blossomed into our 5th important defender. 2. Phil Edwards goal at Cambridge, Champions! 3. October, we just couldn't defend 7 goals for, 13 against 4. I think we achieved more than any of us could have imagined in August. To end the season as Champions with a 5 point margin and with 94 points total? Unbelievable success. 5. Signing Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink was a stroke of genius by our chairman Mr. Ben Robinson. Next Season 6. Ideally, we would like to finish in the top half. Realistically we just need to stay up. 7. This depends on which players sign new contracts. But assuming Nasser, Naylor, Gurks and Maynard sign, and no signed players leave, then I think we need: cover for left side defence, cover for CB, and a strong hold-the-ball-up forward. 8. 9. We need to continue to build our brand-name within the community. The success this season has made a big contribution in that matter, and The Community Trust is a fantastic program that needs to grow in what they do. We need to continue with wise financing and budgeting, and continue to hold promotion-based events for local youth football clubs in an effort to grow the fan base for the long term. 10. That Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is our manager all season. You can use my name, no worries. COYB!!
