No more waiting up till the early hours of Sunday morning to watch the goals again.........Football League has a new deal with Channel Five for a new show at 9:00 pm on Saturday night (before MOTD) All the details on the official site...
Well yes it would mean leaving the pub early but we are in the digital era and once screened you'll be able to watch on catch- up TV no doubt (in place of MOTD if you like.....) ........seems like good news to me........choice of presenters/pundits quite key tho...(Hope they give Leroy Rosenior a role in the new show)

All sounds very good and they are improving the technology to get the footage earlier to allow the show to go out sooner.
If it is an hour and a half show then by the time you take the advert breaks out then I suspect it will be shorter than the current FLS. Will be interesting to see whether the programme is still mainly Championship with much shorter round-ups on Leagues 1 and 2 or whether it is slightly more equal coverage for all divisions. Will also be interesting to see whether they are going to have a programme even when the Championship are not in action as the current deal with the BBC excludes that.
Agree that the choice of presenters etc will be vitally important but we will have to wait and see what it turns out like. ITV/Channel 5 have never really been famed for their quality football coverage in all honesty......this is a big chance for them to get it right.

Could be really good news. I hope they strike a better balance across the leagues. I also hope they have as good a set of presenters as BBC. I do like the BBC's pundits on this programme, especially Leroy Rossenior.

I suspect the coverage of the Championships will be about the same with a compressed coverage of League 1 and League 2. Less punditry and more action would suit me :-)

It sounds promising, but in contrast to everyone above, I hope they ditch the pundits. Rosenior and Claridge are particularly awful; both talk solely in cliches and add no value or insight whatsoever to the highlights that are shown.
