I would think the composition of league 1 next season is very favourable to Burton Albion. The make up of the teams is not quite complete yet but it is going to be a very northern division which should importantly cut down travel costs for the club and make it easy for us to take a good away following to most venues and most clubs to bring a good following to the Pirelli. The teams in league 1 next season are as follows :- Bradford City, Rochdale, Peterborough, Fleetwood, Barnsley, Gillingham, Doncaster, Walsall, Oldham, Scunthorpe, Coventry, Port Vale, Colchester, Crewe, Shrewsbury, Bury, Burton Albion, Wigan, Blackpool, Millwall. Plus 3 out of Preston ,Swindon , Sheff Utd, Chesterfield and 1 out of Plymouth, Wycombe, Stevenage, Southend.
Lots of local derbies too which hopefully will see some bumper crowds. There are only 4 clubs that we have never played before, namely Blackpool and Millwall, Preston and Walsall. Enjoy the summer everyone there is plenty to look forward too for us all.

Pretty good really isn't it?
It's a real pity that Notts County failed to avoid relegation but a blessing perhaps that three of the longer trips; Crawley, Yeovil and Leyton Orient have gone? (No disrespect to any of those sides by the way...purely selfish!)
Of those left, there is really only Gillingham and Colchester of any great difficulty, distance or journey wise and personally I have no desire whatsoever to visit Millwall!
Being even more selfish, I hope we keep Chesterfield, Sheffield and Swindon from the current League One and Wycombe get promoted via the League Two play-offs.

I would have to agree with that johnno, I believe the safe way to go to the "New Den" is on an official club coach, well that's after talking to other clubs supporters who have been. 2 or 3 trips to the south east at most is fine by me and only 1 trip to London ! A couple of nice days at the seaside if we get them at the right time too. It will be like being in an upgraded Northern Premier league !

Bit premature there peacock - PNE have only earned a place in the play-off final so far - where they will have to beat either Swindon or Sheffield Utd to escape League 1 and a couple of games next season against the mighty Brewers....

And looks like the Spireites are losing their manager to Portsmouth... It is understood that assistant Leam Richardson is under consideration for the manager post at the Proact Stadium. www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/32682630

A bit off topic but didn't want to start a new thread..horrific head injury in Southend v Stevenage match when Timlin and Dembeke banged heads. Play was stopped for 8 minutes and Timlin needed 15 stitches...Ouch

Yes I was watching the game earlier , it is one of the worst collisions I have seen , surprised the Stevenage lad made it to half time. He had to have 9 stitches I believe .

Chesterfield now confirmed in league 1 next season. And Sheffield Utd, selfishly happy about both results. Two good rivalry matches for us.

So that's one likely pre-season friendly not happening. Any chance of Bournemouth?

Not sure who I want to win the league 1 play offs, both look very good sides and not much in it travel wise, probably Swindon as we have never been to Preston plus they have a lot of loan players ! In the league 2 play offs whoever we get will be a trip south, probably would like to see Wycombe come up as they had been top 3 most of the season, will have no money to spend and its easy to get to !

Chesterfield fans are furious, it would appear many of the playing staff could be leaving also as the board seek to balance the books due to debts from the new Proact stadium. Good news for us but you have to feel for the Spireites supporters.

Good news for us but you have to feel for the Spireites supporters. Any little thing that gives us an opportunity is ok if it helps us gain a few points. I hope Wycombe go up for a similar reason, they are on a tight budget with a small squad which could help us in the long run. UTB!

Imagine how we would feel if Saunders ever got the manager's job here?
The fact their ex manager has joined a club in League 2 says it all
They clearly needed to get promotion to make their finances work - which was always going to be unlikely

But, c'mon Wycombe!
