www.burtonmail.co.uk/Burton-Albion-player-Drew-Ferguson-Canada-return/story-26325620-detail/story.htmlAnyone else on here remember Drew ? He was a useful left midfield/winger although he was right footed. He played during the 1979/80 season in the Northern Premier league when I think Ian Storey Moore was manger. I actually travelled on the players coach a few times when he was here and he used to get his leg pulled a lot. Drew is going to have one almighty shock at the progress the club has made when he makes a return visit in June ! Once a Brewer always a Brewer !

Nice to know we helped in his development towards an international player for Canada. We had a really good attacking side that season finishing 4th in the NPL and reaching the FA Cup where we lost 0-2 at home to Bury. I can remember Ian Taylor who is now chairman of the PFA playing against us that day. Bury ! Just goes to show our progress that we are now above them challenging for the title whilst they are chasing an automatic promotion place !

I remember him playing in the 80's. Those were the heydays when Canada made it to the World Cup in Argentina and won the Gold Cup and the N.A. Nations Cup. Not sure that he played in either of those tournaments though.

I was speaking to Drew today at the CP2015 tournament at St. Georges. He remembers his days at Eton Park well, and a couple of his old teammates stopped by today to see him. He said Ben also met with him at The Pirelli and gave him a personal tour, he was very impressed by the stadium! He seems like a real good guy! Tomorrow, Wed. at 4:30pm England play Russian a quarterfinal. England have Jack Rutter in their squad, an ex-Birmingham City academy player who suffered a terrible attack and head injury that ended his pro playing dream. Russia is one of the tournament favourites. There is some good football being played in this tournament, get yourselves up there, £5 entrance fee. www.theguardian.com/football/2015/jun/12/england-football-cerebral-palsy-jack-rutter
