Maybe the advanced talks are where we talk about budgets and coaching staff etc
Be interesting to see if he gets a contract
Leeds will be wanting at least two more managers this season!

Well one of posters on burton brewers forum broke it on here ahead of burton mail Think it was brewer 1874 who last night said betting was suspended with him 1/7 odds on Speaking to Colston Crawford from the Derby Telegraph a while ago he explained that the press in general might know before but they work with the club and are given a time at which they may release the news. This will be designed to engender best publicity from the clubs perspective and will for instance coordinate radio, papers, the club's Twitter feed. It must be frustrating for the papers, especially in the age of the internet, that they know the news but it appears to leak from a different source -making them look less on the ball. A classic example of this is when fans from the old club know that a player is leaving or has left and so the news comes out that way. Far more fun or us though

I was getting a bit too excited there ! Evidently according to Sky we are in talks with David Oldfield to be assistant to JFH. Remember him as a player but not too sure what the connection between the 2 is.

Oldfield could have been recommended by Whitlow. They spent some time playing together at Leicester. Just a stab in the dark. That's the only real connection I can think of.

You have to hope that JFH and Mr Oldfield have at least met before they take the helm and hopefully formed a favourable impression of each other if they're going to be working together managing our club....

Maybe he applied for the job like Rowett did and maybe JFH did his badges at the same time? All very interesting I think :-)

Did Pesch and Gaz have a connection? Gaz and Kev S.? Think the connection could be a Plan B by Ben? Oldfield was coach at the Baggies and now MK Dons and apparently good with young players so sounds promising if it happens. We would still need a keeper coach and someone for Sales role...

That was the article I was referring to yesterday peacock, it would certainly seem that negotiations with David Oldfield and the franchise club are on going and if/when they are concluded the official announcement will be made.

The chairman won't want to pay much if any compensation that's for sure Maybe we should offer them friendlies for the next 3 years! Lol

According to the Daily Telegraph JFH was recommended to the club by Steve McClaren. I have attached a link but it may not work as I think that you have to subscribe to the site. www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/burton-albion/11222739/Jimmy-Floyd-Hasselbaink-leading-race-for-vacant-manager-post-at-Burton-Albion.html The article reads.. Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink leading race for vacant manager post at Burton Albion Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is set to land his first managerial job in England by taking charge at League Two club Burton Albion. Hasselbaink, the former Chelsea and Leeds United forward, has been in talks with Burton for the past 48 hours and his appointment is expected to be confirmed later this week. The 42-year-old left Royal Antwerp in May to pursue a role in this country and he is now the leading contender to succeed Gary Rowett, ahead of Tony Mowbray and Neil Aspin. Derby County manager Steve McClaren, who worked with Hasselbaink at Middlesbrough and briefly at Nottingham Forest, is understood to have recommended the Dutchman to Burton chairman Ben Robinson. Burton are currently fifth in League Two and Hasselbaink’s first game will be Monday night’s trip to Wycombe Wanderers.

In a previously posted article, or interview, he said he was a one man show at Royal Antwerp doing everything himself. I guess that includes goalkeeper coaching and training. I suppose Oldfield would have some goalkeeper experience as well. Also says they might hire a part-time gk coach, but no 1st team coach, so they will be busy boys.

From an interview I saw with JFH he likes to get out on the pitch coaching, in another I see he was annoyed with Royal Antwerp due to the internet to his office being disconnected for 2 months !
