This has been a very sad chapter in the BALFC's history.

And there have been some very moving moments so far in respect of Lydia. On Facebook, Carl Whetton and Lee Milligan organised a tribute at the Barnsley match and that went off fantastically, both of you deserve the fans thanks. A notice of this tribute was posted on Barnsley FC website and 33 people shared that post on there with their friends and fans. As a result there was minutes applause and signing of her name by our supporters at the game, and many of the Barnsley folk joined in. People on FB have commented that they heard the tribute at the ground, John Potts (club photographer) said Barnsley subs and stewards joined in on the sidelines, people said they could hear it while listening to the game on the radio.
Lydia's sister, Rachel, posted this on FB: "On behalf of me and ny family I would like to thank every single person for all the love support n respect shown for my sister lydia. I have just watched the video 'shes one of our own' and it had me in tears, thank u. I am extremely proud of my baby sister and all she has achieved especially how well she was doing with her football. A true credit to the Bennett family. Thank u very much again to u all. X"
"I would like to thank u all so much for ur kind words. Me and my family ate so grateful we cannot express how proud of lydia we are n how grateful we are for all lovely comments xxx"
A Barnsley fan posted this, "I'm a barnsley fan I would like t thank ur fans for the minute silence at our ground yesterday and I ope we did u proud in the minutes applause for the loss off your fellow fan .. I can say you played well and was nice t have such nice fans at our ground most respect"
Carl posted "Rachel it was so amazing to be part of such a respectful tribute for your sister Lydia. I would like to send my condolences to you and a your family and would like to say how sorry I was to hear of Lydia's passing. I hope you and your family can find some comfort from all the comments etc and once again I would like to thank ALL the ppl that joined in celebrating Lydia yesterday. From all of the Burton Albion family xxx"
Lee posted: "Emotional morning today with all the club's players, staff and parents at the Pirelli stadium today. So proud of everyone pulling together and supporting each other.
Some lovely words said from Lydia's family and beautiful flowers laid outside.
Thanks to all who have sent in lovely messages, we've all been touched.
Club update after this morning's meeting at the Pirelli stadium .
Bafc fans and football family are now invited if they so wish too, to lay flowers on the grass bank opposite the main entrance.
We thank you again for your understanding and warm wishes."
There are other tributes being organised for the public to pay their respects, and another minutes applause is being planned during the Luton match at The Pirelli on Nov.22nd.
This is such a sad story with so many happy connections.
RIP Lydia
