I much prefer away friendlies which are a chance to go to somewhere different. At least today I have a migraine type headache which will clinch the matter.

Got to be a good money spinner for the club though from the away fans alone
Think I'm going to go with my son.

I wasn't able to go in the end as had to go out for a meal I had forgotten about.
We lost 1-0 in a game with lots of chances for both teams apparently
Crowd of 3743

Really good game, we didnt look out classed at all. Both teams created chances but a slightly qucik reaction to a rebound won them the game. All in all a good run out for our boys and provides great optimism for the new season

Starting lineup looked like 4-3-2-1 with the 2 being Akins and Gurks playing as attacking wingers behind Beavon. With the subs it turned into 4-4-2. McLaughlin Edwards, Sharps (Slade), Sherrif, Taft Akins(Macca) Matty Weir(Harness) Mousinho(Doyle) Gurks(Knowles) Beavon(Billy)
A good display by all I thought for a friendly against a top Championside side. But Derby didn't seem to get out of 1st gear for much of the game, when they did we held our own. They probably should have had 4-5 if they could finish. The goal came from a freekick after a foul by Sherriff on Russell. Johnny hit a screamer from 25yds? off the crossbar/goalpost joint and Hendricks was on the ball first to head it in. Taft played 90mins at leftback and looked ok I thought Three youth players, Slade, Harness and Doyle, came on as subs and didn't look out of place.
Beavon looked a bright spark up front and was good on the counterattack Akins looked good on the wing pushing forward. Robbie had some good possession and moments in front of goal, perhaps should have shot more. Macca looked fit and feisty, and made a couple of good rundown tackles.
Pretty pleased overall, but hey it was a friendly.
edit: if the crowd was 3743 as announced (seems high) 2500 of them must have been Rams. Added Harness as a sub, subs/starters may not be exact matches. Popside was rammed with Rams.

I think that this is a fair assessment of the game, not a proper tackle in the game though so it is difficult to assess whether the style and formation will stand up to a more rugged League Two approach. As for the crowd, I would say about 15/1600 from Derby, about 700 in the seats, 8/900 on the terrace.

Reckon there were a few more Derby fans than as said above. Certainly a good few around us in the North stand.
As for the match itself, a good work out for both teams, suprised Derby kept the main core of the team on the full 90 mins. Quite a few changes as expected for the Brewers during the match, the only player IMO who didn't show much was Matty Palmer, hope he gets better as we move into the serious stuff. First time I've seen the new signings, I liked what I saw, bring on the new season.

To be fair to Matty he had some tough players to mark, Hendricks, Russell, Hughes and Robbie was pushing forward quite a bit. He also put a couple of quality setpiece crosses right onto Tafts forehead. But he has played a lot better than last night.
