I was there at Workington when he broke his arm for the second time playing for Albion in the NPL in the 1970's,,who would have thought he would go on to have the career in management he has had. He did a good job at Albion and is still the 2nd longest serving manager in the clubs history,i have a lot of respect for him and understand what he is saying about Argyle but it would take a long time for Plymouth to grow to that standard !

With financial backing and the right manager it's possible. They've certainly got the fanbase.
Nearly 14,000 at their game with Exeter at Home Park I think.

Got to agree with Spence, they do have the potential to make the championship. But a hell of a lot of things will need to come together Chairman, Manager and of course squad quality.
And TBF the same could be said of many clubs throughout the leagues.
However you only have to look at side like Stevenage, Crawley and maybe Swindon to suggest it is possible to jump a couple of Divisons. Also Cardiff have managed to rise from the 4th teir to prem granted its take some time.

He is talking as though is angling for the managers job.

I don't think it is delusional in the medium to long term. As had been said they would need some serious financial restructuring, but the potential is there.
They were last in the Championship in 2010 and were getting crowds of 10-15,000. As a city I believe Plymouth is around the same size/bigger than Reading, Derby and Southampton. There are no 'Championship' sized clubs within 100 miles (though doubtless there are plenty of Man U and Liverpool shirts worn around the place).
Who would have thought that Hull, Wigan and Swansea would play in the Premier League? It's not much further back that Fulham, Bolton and Wolves had spells in the 4th tier.

Not delusional in the slightest with Plymouth being such a big club, with a massive fanbase, and a decent chairman behind them now.
Steve Claridge described Plymouth as a sleeping giant last season when they were marooned at the bottom of L2 with no money. I sniggered to myself thinking Claridge had been on something. But now Plymouth's financial worries are behind them, I can see them really pushing on next season!!!
