There's been a new development overnight with Derby County . They have been fined £100k and with a strong possibility of a 2 point deduction which will come into effect for the season just completed . Meaning they will be relegated to League One .The fixtures are still coming out at 09.00 hrs this morning , but there is another set of alternative fixtures been compiled if the two point deduction comes into force .

It's a strange mess this. Very difficult to get to grips with all the back dated accounts. I think Derby may be able to defend decisions made in certain circumstances as "hounourable" as they were made on the understanding they were within the rules. Derby should be able to lodge appeals to the point of no return so that they avoid relegation this season. However the EFL would seem to want to punish Derby further and I would think they are likely to suffer a further punishment of a points deduction for the up coming season similar to Sheffield Wednesday. It does highlight the need for a better system so that FFP rule breakers penalties are served within the season they occured thus beniffitting the other clubs in the division who have been directly affected.

Throw the book at them as far as i'm concerned. Mel Morris has always seemed like somebody who's thought he's cleverer than the rest of us and has the ability to interpret rules differently to everybody else to his own advantage. The Rams fanbase have been swept along over the last few years with this feeling of being superior to the rest of us and now the chickens are coming home to roost. All we here from their bleating fans is how the EFL have somehow "got it in for them". Rubbish, they've broken and twisted rules and should rightly be punished.

I must admit that reading the comments on the unoficial Sheep forum is comedy gold. They are certainly in dire straights on the playing side and there seems to be no imminent solution with a takeover. The transfer embargo is really stiffling them, a threadbare squad and only able to sign players or loans without paying fees. They are surely going to be in for a very difficult season. Its hard to see 3 clubs worse than them in the current Championship line up. Avoiding relegation i think would be a real achievement for them. We have always had a better chairman and leadership than them but this season for the first time in my life despite the obvious differences in club size I am sure we have a better manager and his assistant plus a better playing squad. That is some statement but just shows what can be achieved with our modest budget and resourses when managed correctly. Amazing progress when you consider the position we were in last January with relegation to league 2 a distinct possibility.

There is something very odd going on with the Sheep. Allowed to sign 4 or 5 players but none actually signed as yet. Maybe they can't actually afford to add to the wage bill or there are other limitations imposed by the EFL. Whatever it is i think the club owe their fans some sort of explanation instead of the silence from Pride park. Very poor communications between the club and the supporters.
Unlike previous times we have very little connection with them player wise with John Brayford being the only current member of the first team squad who has actually played for them. As for Rooney, what can you say, it justs add to the disarray at the club. I bet training was interesting this morning !

21/02/2017 - Derby 0-0 Burton - Possession 64/36 - Shots on goal 15/3 - Shots on target 3/1.
I remember one of the Radio Derby commentators (Owen Bradley) sarcastically tweeting during this game about “things more interesting than watching Burton play for a point”, the (sold out) away end getting grief for cheering the final whistle and being happy for a 0-0, another dig from RD after the game about our players waiting a bit longer for the coach home as it’s been parked in the goalmouth all game and tons of aggro from my sheepy workmates about not deserving to be in that league.
Fast forward four and a half years
15/09/2021 - West Brom 0-0 Derby - Possession 64/36 - Shots on goal 25/4 - Shots on target 9/0
Owen Bradley on Twitter “Love a clean sheet, me. Can’t fault the lads. Terrific commitment”. West Brom fans slating Derby fans (didn’t sell out the away end btw) for celebrating full time like they’d “won the Champions League”, endless social media comments from Derby fans “the definition of playing for the badge…not pretty but a priceless point”…etc etc…and my sheepy workmates blathering on about it being a Wayne Rooney masterclass.
How the mighty have fallen 😄

Spot on really....
1) Were did it all go wrong, well when I stopped going, I saw the light.😁
2) They sacked NC, at least they weren't shedding money at an alarming rate when he was manager, he pulled it round for them.
I was speaking to a Derby season ticket holder last Saturday for the first time since, well two seasons ago. He told me he couldn't attend 2 games this season as he didn't have a ticket (remember I said he's a season ticket holder) yes no ticket. They haven't sent them out, he said they are clueless and it's a shambles trying to talk to the admin there. I said couldn't it be classed as fraudulent, he just shrugged his shoulders, had no answer.🙄

Tom Lawrence got a straight red card last match, he misses the next three games. A vital player and captain, his punishment, Rooney has sent him away on holiday to get some sun😩🤔

How many more deadlines are going to be extended? If it was a smaller club, they'd have gone by now. Not that I want to see any club go out of business but it really is one rule for one and one for the others. Did Macclesfield, Bury etc get this long? It wouldn't surprise me if they're allowed to start next season whilst still in administration. The EFL is a farce. PS I'm no expert on this so I am happy to be told I'm wrong.

I have to agree, far from the EFL being vindictive as Sheep fans claim they are getting preferential treatment. They have had long enough to sort this out. If they can't name a preferred bidder by now then the situation should take it's natural course. They will have to reform and start from the bottom like Macclesfield,Bury and Wimbledon etc. Then get their house in order and be run on a correct financial basis. Whilst that would not be a good situation for them i feel it would be the right decision for football. When all is said and done the club cheated and broke the FFP rules. It is tough on the fans as it is not their fault. but the club have no devine right to be in the football league

Just read that Derby City Council are considering buying Pride Park to help them get the club sold.
I’m sure the tens of thousands of people who live in Derby who aren’t Derby fans will be delighted to know where some of their recently increased council tax will be going.

DCC have a quirk for spaffing 10's of millions up the wall. Just ask anyone in Derby about the Sinfin powerstation. £50m for a powerstation that after nearly 7 years still isn't operational.

I see Derby have relieved Liam Rosenoir of his duties as interim manager at Derby.
