It’s stated we needed the win money which is correct, but would it have been used to strengthen the squad, doubtful as it hasn’t before eg the Man City ties, sale of Irvine, Allen, Lund & Harness, etc Yes it was. We put contracts for Akins and Quinn together.

We put contracts for Akins and Quinn together. Exactly. Even though we are not a club to splash out fees on players then we certainly used a fair chunk of the Man City windfall on improving/extending deals for Akins, Quinn and Ben Fox along with signing Colin Daniel who although a free transfer would have commanded a signing on fee and wages commensurate with an experienced league one player. We also signed Josh Clarke (Brentford) and Alex Bradley (WBA) on loan. During the summer we signed JJOT who I imagine would be on a reasonably decent deal and again, although a free transfer, they never are free when signing-on and agents fees are then considered. The summer we sold Irvine we also paid fees for Boyce and Allen so that one doesn't compute. My guess is that a fair chunk of Marcus' fee will be in incentives, promotion to Championship etc. Loan signings are not always cheap either. If we pay for example 40% of a Championship players wages for half a season, or a young Premier League player then it is still a decent wage for a club of our size to be forking out.

Fair comment i suppose just disappointed at the moment that we seem to keep losing some of our best players and not replacing them with the same or better quality hi

With only one and a half million from the league, and a pittance in gate receipts, most of us except our predicament and look at all the staff needed to run a football league club.and wages required. And so we sit back and think, what a achievement for a club this size. But often we fall into that trap thinking it is a level playing field and the game is all about winning, then we see any players of quality taken from us. Its hard but the Football Club and Community is what it is all about, Its Ben and Nigel plus many mores legacy to the area. And we get the benefits of a family club and we suffer as fans always punching above out weight, but when its good it is good
