A player struggling at Mansfield does not give me confidence as a answer to our shipping in goals problems. Sorry, more class needed Trevor. You are always banging on until the cows come home about our limiting finances etc then you go moaning that a potential loan signing does not have enough class? Are you going to provide the additional finances to fund this ‘class’ you are seeking for us? Sorry about not jumping up and down about the possible signing who is not playing for Mansfield and is injured, sometimes we fans get carried away and judge the club as a league 1 club looking for promotion, and judge players accordingly. Now has for giving additional finances ,Derby at home would have brought in half a million and a lot of prestige, meanwhile we move on and the Playoffs will compensate for the F+A cup flop and bring the half million into the club. I sincerely dont think this signing will brake the bank. also a quality central defender on loan would not brake the bank, oh we have played that card. We are now out of all cups and competing once more for the playoffs, Stopping Fleetwood should be a education, and good luck to Shaughnessy

We are now out of all cups and competing once more for the playoffs, Stopping Fleetwood should be a education, and good luck to Shaughnessy He’s not playing because he is injured and can’t be struggling that much if his new manager was keen to keep him and work with him. Mansfield fans are also disappointed to see him go back. Sounds like we tried to sign him in the summer then we had to change targets due to injuries in our squad. If there is one thing that really grinds my gears it’s ‘supporters’ who make up their mind about a player not being good enough before he has even pulled on a Burton shirt. He is coming to us from Leeds so will be on decent money for a fringe Championship player. Depends what percentage we are paying whether that BREAKS the bank or not but don’t be naive enough to think he will that cheap just because he was at Mansfield on loan. You normally post, appreciating, albeit in a long and rambling way, the financial conditions we work under so you, as much as anyone should appreciate that Nigel is bringing in, assuming it is true, someone who fits our budget

On our local news (East Mids) today they report he has now been called back by Leeds.
Me thinks he will be packing his bags for East Staffs.

Judging our wages on what Mansfield can afford brings us to new level. having another long ramble, i sit in wonder at how easily we con seed goals O"Hara now is now getting used to picking the ball out of the net, he will soon be another Bywater [oh so what ] We even see goal kick -head on= shoot goal easy . 23 games gone, the next 23 defines our season and it is Clough who talks about the playoffs==Clough knows the budget. Clough defines players. Me i just know attack leaving the back door open succer punch. Corners and set plays favour the attacking team, but this seems to work one way, oh to see Burton score from a corner. Peterborough just spent a million . This is the league we are in. Thats why Clough is so important to this club. When you are retired you have time to ramble and chat. .

www.burtonalbionfc.co.uk/news/2020/january/0801-transfers/Cloughs update on transfers for January. I may read too much in to this....... but note he uses the word "few" and not "couple" when describing the current interest. I suspect we do have interest in more than just Boyce and Fraser unfortunately.

Might be true but a distinct lack of quotes from anybody involved suggests it is speculation trying to hype up the story and indirectly influence things.

Interesting article and as you say nobody has been quoted but it shows the unrealistic world these so called big clubs live in. On one hand they are looking to sign our striker who has scored 13 in 31 this season for £250,000 and he will replace their existing striker who has no goals in 8 appearances where they hope to get £3m!!!! Good luck with that. No wonder this club is an absolute shambles and perennial failures.

It's sometimes tough to read on here, when it comes from someone I like, it's tougher.
Come on Trevor, cheer up mate. It reads to me like you're falling out of love with large parts of what were about, what we've always been about.
The Northampton game was another wake up call. Someone I really thought we'd just turn up and turn over. I should have watched those highlights.
Whatever happens in January and whoever we're left with its times the players stood up and took some responsibility, recognised that it's not possible that we play so well one week, then from out of nowhere we have a stinker.
We're too good for that. These players need to get themselves together and sort out some consistency.
If we get money for Boyce and or Fraser it will be interesting to see if we have any cash to bring in one or two as well.
The lad from Mansfield is a welcome addition, no idea what he's like but we've got to start looking at the reality Brayford and Buxton won't go on forever.
January for me is always interesting and a little bit exciting and that's whether it's ins or outs.
Bring it on.

Absolutely spot on again broomo. I had a little tantrum on here after the Northampton game. I was very disappointed frustrated and knew we’d blown a huge chance. The players do have to have a long look at themselves because they are much better than Sunday’s performance and one or two of the league performances we’ve shown this season. Generally we’ve been good but as you say every now and again we throw in a stinker. Sunday unfortunately was very ill timed. Most on here know with Ben and Nigel everything will still turn out fine in the end . Also after a bad one I’ve got to take a day or 2 to calm down before I start criticising. WE ARE AFTER ALL BURTON ALBION COMPETING IN THE 3RD TIER OF ENGLISH FOOTBALL. Now that still sounds good to me.

Clough post match interview tonight re Boyce.
“It’s the same with everybody here that if a club comes in with the right offer then we look at it. That hasn’t changed in 20 years. We hav had a bit of interest generally and one bid we have rejected. That’s as far it has gone so far.
“We had interest in Scott Fraser as well but no firm bids yet, so we have to take that as it comes and see what happens but he’s down to play on Tuesday night. With the number of assists and goals he has got and the quality of his play this season if we were in The Championship, we would be looking at him.”
