Mix feelings on this as if Boyce had stayed till the end of the season, with the additions then we may have stood a chance of promotion via the playoffs. But realistically he was always going to go at some point so it’s good that we have a fee for Boyce. His performances did pick up quite a bit Recently with him most probably knowing someone would come in for him in this window. So yes sad to see a good player leave, although I’m not sure he made such an impact as Zola or Beavon did and I’d definitely be more annoyed if It was Akins on his way out or Quinn. All the best Liam COYB 👍🏻

Reports say £6k a week for 3 and a half years. If it is correct Boyce himself couldn't really turn that down but get the point Broomo that he could have potentially done better in the summer. I guess sometimes though with a short career you have to grab what's on offer here and now (could get a serious injury in the next game you never know). Its a shame we missed him for that first season when we were in the Championship.

Will be watching with interest, 3pm KO Hearts v Rangers. Subject to him being medically fit to be in the team.
He goes with mine and I'm sure most Brewers fans best wishes. I think he's done pretty well for saying he didn't get off to the best starts with that injury. Very rarely has he kicked off when getting battered about on the pitch, just gets on with it. Would have liked more goals from him but I think we've had value from him whilst at the Pirelli. It wasn't all about the goals from him his overall play was pretty good, I would think he gave us value for what we paid.
Hey, no official statement yet from the club but I'm sure that's imminent.

Didn’t want to be here, wanted more money. Can’t blame him for that. Sounds like a good deal for Burton and Boyce, poor deal for the Jambos.

Seems done and dusted and now for the aftermath, with Murphy joining i would expect Boyce to score at least 20 goals this season. It seems like losing your top scorer at this time of the season leaves you flat, looking at what is left, Akins=Sarkic=Broadhead=Murphy. Akins more creator than scorer==Sarkic talented but easily bullied injured a lot==Broadhead lacks physicality and injured a lot==Murphy not physical very talented but lacking game time, could pickup niggling injuries. Seems like we could be on a wing and a prayer. Right and left flank == Templeton=Sbarra=Broadhead=Sarkic=Akins=Murphy well covered Akins=Boyce= Akins all day long. We know Nigel would have liked to keep Boyce but a parting of the ways was inevitable and while i think it weakens us, he hasn't gone to one of our rivals.I thought because of our signings we were battling the big boys of this division. but our attendances were always going to play a part. Good luck to Boyce his injury took one season away, but he played his part.

I would say ideally we need an out and out striker now to finish off the transfer window business to put away the chances from all these wingers. With Boyce going we have no natural striker. Clough may feel that is that and getting a goalscorer in not easy anyway.

From BBC
The fee for Boyce could end being in excess of £200,000. There were problems with the deal, because an English League One side came in yesterday and matched the fee, while offering the player better terms than he could get at Hearts.
But he chose Hearts and his goalscoring record as a professional is actually better than Rangers striker Jermain Defoe's. Boyce has 86 goals in 179 games - a remarkable record.

Agreed, I don't understand that statistic at all. Jermaine Defoe has scored circa 235 goals for club (in England and Scotland) and country. I am not sure that Boyce has even scored 86 !

After match interview by NC re Boyce and what next. It seems he is sticking Lucas up top as the striker and go with that. Wasn't so keen on mentioning that he is still looking to replace Boyce, sounded a bit like maybe to me but not likely.??

We definitely missed Boycey today, his hold up play in particular brings the best out of the likes of Fraser.

Which is basically us saying mid table is as high as we can get. We all love lucas but a prolific goal scorer he is not. We desperately need to bring someone in.. Even a loan signing. The season could fizzle out rapidly.

Well Boyce has been struggling in the last few minutes of the match today, he picked up a knock but he's only gone and put Hearts 2-1 up against Rangers, he also assisted Naismith and set him up for Hearts 1st goal.

Boyce's goal proved to be the winner. Clearly he has hit the ground running!

As usual we could not compete on the wages, and Nigel explained it he could have signed a pre contract agreement and i say just coasted through till june. So getting some money and saving wages was a no brainier

Wow, what a start for Liam Boyce today in his debut game for Hearts! Winning goal and an assist against Rangers. It couldn't get much better than that for him.
I watched a bit of the game today just out of idle curiosity and have to say I am no longer wondering why he chose to leave us and move back to Scotland. Forget the money and the security of a long term deal, the atmosphere created by the 18k fans in the ground is something most players of his level would want to perform in front of. We do our best with our 2k hardcore but that was chalk and cheese in comparison.
I said it the other day but the town of Burton has let its football club down in recent years. With the progress we have made over the last ten years we ought to be playing in front of 4-5k regularly and then and only then might we have half a chance of holding onto our best players. We know we will always be either a stepping stone onto better things or a place to see out your career in the eyes of players but we've got to do better attendance wise than we are doing.
Well done Liam, it looked immense today and is great start to your career back in the Scottish Premier League.

Yes a big crowd against Rangers, they don't do badly against other teams either, maybe 12-14k even 12k in their league cup. I see why he's gone apart from the money, we do our best but as above no competition on crowds anyway.

I think Nigel trusts Lucas has goals in him and when you add in his general play where he's incredibly difficult to handle, I think he'd prefer to stick with him. I remember watching a game that was on TV in league Two when Lucas had a Stormer. I turned to my mare and said he'd be a beast upfront on League One. He can be that player. Unless we've got any chance of getting Chris Martin, I'd prefer we stuck with what we've got. Maybe even give Ollie a run through the middle. We do have goals in us already, we've just got to tweak the way we're playing.
