Yeah, definitely need to see the truth in this one..
200k without a sell on clause vs 150k with a 20% sell on clause may be more beneficial to us in the long term.

Need Nigel to make sense out of losing Boyce for £150-000 in league 1 this is peanuts, At least he has not gone to one of our rivals

Daily Record report that Boyce has agreed a 3.5 year deal with Hearts. Aberdeen were also interested. The fee report is 150k. Curious given the Sunderland manager said we turned 200k down. As with all Albion transfer fees we will probably never be told Sunderland are competing against us in our League.

I'd be surprised if any sell on clause is involved given he's 29 soon, but you never know.
Hopefully a striker comes in if he does go. As we don't actually have one if he does (unless we are still counting Beardsley) Maybe with Murphy being a natural winger he'll push Lucas into the middle as a stopgap, as we know he can cover there.
We'll have a lot more creativity with Murphy/Powell just need to make sure we have someone in the middle who can get on the end of things.

Maybe we'll go for the Liverpool approach and have no lump, just a fluid front 3...
Who knows. They're not stupid though!

Ultimately it surely has to be about what the player wants for himself and his family. It's a job.
For us, any money is better than no money, which is what we'd get in the summer.
Chris O'Grady on loan until the end of the season?

£150,000 is frankly awful. Why when you didn’t rate him?

Whilst there has been nothing official from either club the reports in the Scottish media seem fairly definite that he has signed a three and a half year deal with Hearts and is set to make his debut against Rangers on Sunday. On the face of it this is not a great career move with the likelihood being he will be playing in the Scottish second tier next season but given he is getting such a lengthy deal you can't blame him for putting security before glory.
The fee is rumoured to be between £150k and £250k and I see that the usual suspects on other social media platforms are already starting to moan and groan that we've let him go for a ridiculously low fee but don't forget we will also save on his wages which at £3k per week for six months is another £75k. At the end of the day if the lad wants to go then there is really no point in keeping him and if we'd had stopped the move he may not have been that committed for the rest of the season, who knows.
My final point on this is that if the town of Burton wants players like Liam Boyce to represent our club then more of its football fans need to get off their backsides and actively support the team and help boost the finances. Let's face it, with crowds like we've seen recently, low 2k's, then we are not going to be able to keep players of the quality we currently have for very long because if you hadn't realised it by now this club has no sugar daddy pumping in millions of their own money and getting the club into debt. Eventually we will find the level the club's finances and fan base dictate. Who knows an extra 500 regular supporters boosting the gate we may have been able to afford another contract offer.
Personally, I am still confident about this season with the signings we have made but clearly our chances would have been better with Boyce in the squad unless another replacement is lined up.

£150,000 is frankly awful. Why when you didn’t rate him? What are you on about. He's always shown good qualities, when on form we've no better focal point in the side, and even more so when not forced out on the wing. If Lucas didn't have to spend so much time in defence I think Liam's goal record would be even better. He'll be a big loss as we're now striker less. Hopefully not for long though as I fully expect a new face sometime over the next week.

I would hope it's nearer £250k but I guess we'll never really know.

We were never going to let him leave for free in the summer. We've always been clear about that but some people prefer not to hear it.
It would have been us as much as Boyce himself pushing this through. Either sign a 12 month extension or bugger off.
I like him as a player and he seems a decent lad but let's not forget he's been hankering after a move for at least 12 months now.
150k or 200k isn't peanuts to us, it's gate receipts for two or three home games and represents a big chunk of our normal turnover.
Personally I think Boyce has been a bit short sighted, especially since Murphy arrived.
Unless everything was already done and dusted and we got Murphy with the money we're getting for Boyce, he should have looked around and thought to himself a 15 goal Liam Boyce can move to Hearts, a 25 goal Liam Boyce would have seen Champ clubs come back in for him.
Nearly a brilliant signing and certainly not a bad one but by our standards for the fee we paid for him and the reputation he came with as well as his undoubted ability, he's fallen short of what we all hoped for. This was his 25 goal season and he's buggered off half way through with us looking quite good.
Give me Jamie Murphy any say of the week.
Thanks for some great performances, some real stand out class at times but ultimately came up short of what we all hoped for.

Spot on about Lucas. I fancy him and Murphy will link up well and possibly even interchange. The attention Lucas will get from other teams will create space for our midfielders to bomb on. He had the ability and durability to absolutely beast this league as an out and out forward. I'm looking forward to seeing him up there.

If we have seen the last of Boyce in a brewers shirt then I am kind of pleased that he has left showing us in the last few months what a class act he can be on his day. Shame he didn't do this consistently for us.
I suspect we have already used the money we will get for him to pay for Murphy - I hope I am wrong
