We've had a few tussles with the Millers in recent times... Difficult to predict this one Beat the Wombles 2 v 1 in the season opener... Then lost 2 v 0 at home to Lincoln.... Tonked Shrewsbury 4 v 0 last night (but who knows if the Shrews were at full strength)
Recently a Championship side... Relegation hangover...?
It'll be tough game I suspect and we'll need to be on top of our game to win it...

I recall two Billy Kee goals (well one actually, I was finishing my half time pint when the second went in!), two Rotherham red cards and their fans kicking off and throwing bottles on the pitch!

Rotherham after spending 26 seasons in league 2 throughout their history have become a yo=yo club from league 1 to the championship,Not a lot in the costs of the squad:s in transfer fees ,but yet again wages come into play,The New York stadium is 12-000 all seater and the average attendance being 9-980 three times Burton's Average.Managed by Paul Warne they are a stable club and with maximum gates of 12=000 naturally struggle in the championship, like Burton always having to sell their best players.but in league 1 they are a top club.,Having being relegated they have signed 9 players, and are hoping for a central defender, and two wingers before the transfer deadline. Players of note Smith=Jones and chuffed at signing Ladapo from Plymouth for £500-000 hoping his goals will be the difference between promotion or not. Will take a draw against a determined squad, and a down to earth manager, and a club not fazed by relegation but use it has a tool gain the extra income the championship brings

I predict a tight game.. But I can see lots of goals. I'm going for a 3-3 A tight 3-3, I love it ;-) Got a lot of time for Rotherham and especially their chairman and manager. The Chairman has properly and sensibly backed Warne when I'm sure others would have let him go upon relegation. He's been allowed time to build, then rebuild and I hope Rotherham reap the rewards. Warne comes across like a cracker, another one of those managers I'd like to play for if I was a player, he's honest, he's enthusiastic and always comes over like a decent bloke. Their sensible fans love him to bits. a bit like Burton there is a group who can't see that he's hamstrung at Championship level and expect miracles or to see him fired. The good ones recognise what a job he's doing. I'm fine with them going up, as long as they're a point behind us. I've mentioned a few times now but for me it's clubs like Rotherham who are our proper rivals these days, Barnsley, Peterboro, Doncaster, Bolton, Wigan, we're as good as all of them. I fancy us on Saturday. I think even at this stage of the season, we're tantalisingly close to clicking and when we click there will be sides who can't get near us. I've got everything crossed we click tomorrow. I'd take a sneaky little 1-0 right now though if it was offered ;-) 3-0 and BOOM!! Nathan B, Liam B and Ryan E.

Anyone know why there has been no pre match build up to the game on ifollow?
Pretty disappointing, it's usually where you get some idea of the line up and the mood around the squad before the game. Our media team has been brilliant this past year or so but it's poor that we miss pre match interviews. Ever.

I can only surmise that this us the first game for the officials in anything above Sunday League football. The referee is officiating with bemusement.
He kicked off at 3 seconds past three. That was as good as he got.

First half we were quite alright.
Bit unlucky to concede.
2nd half, trash. Really, until the 85th and we came alive.
Referee was shite all game. How did he miss the handball on the halfway line. That was comical. Epitomised his game. He also missed a fairly clear penalty in my eyes. Crap officiating.
Not sure what happened really, maybe they just bullied us more, but we were far off the standard we showed vs Ipswich imo.
Oh well. We march on. 2 hard home games to start us off

I thought the love of Lucas was universal amongst our fans. I was wrong, some tosser stood behind me on the popside spent what seems like the entire game slagging him off, and moaning about how "He's f***ing s***, get him off".
Some of our fans just seem to be so incredibly dense.

I would never slag Lucas off but by His standards he did have a poor game! The Refereeing was absolutely diabolical, I remember more about the Ref than the actual football, SHOCKING. Apart from that although we hit the bar twice and missed two more good chances, Rotherham did a job on us and played to there strengths, they are a massive physical side who basically out muscled us and didn't give us a minute when we had the ball.

Think we've got to accept that teams don't come to the Pirelli to out play us, they come to get 3 points. Yes they hold push and foul where and when required and out muscle us, and in doing so these teams go home with the win, job done!
I thought we struggled to get going and need to show a lot more urgency from the start instead of showing some real fight after 50 mins or after falling behind.
They had a bit of luck with their goal although I've not watched the highlights yet. O'Hara looks a good keeper and will probably be dissapointed it crept in but he made up for it especially with that one on one save. That Boyce header 1st half should have gone in, can't afford to miss those! Heard O'Toole got MOTM, and yes he had a good game and looks a decent player but he's not a natural CB. Just think he would be more suited in midfield in place of Edwards which would give us a lot more strength further up the pitch as we are getting knocked off the ball far to easy. COYB 👍🏻

We did hit the woodwork three times as I am counting the Broadhead effort on the second half. But, I dont disagree with the last bit, they did do a number on us and they were big, physical and direct. The positives... First 10 mins Broadhead looked unplayable, hit the bar and at least two other (poss 3) saves from their 'keeper. I hear people saying play him in his best position, but to me he is looking great in the advanced left side. Buxton and O'Toole were massive, they look rock solid, Nartey will get his chance, but maybe he will have to wait. I like Edwards, he again seemed to have great energy and dovetails well with Quinn. Fraser did ok too, not his best but still drove into the box for the non-penalty.

The only thing consistent with referee Nick Kinseley in the link below. . Did anyone get to see a decent view of the penalty shout? I couldn't see it from where I was standing, I do believe the players however, we're an honest lot. www.grimsbytelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/michael-jolley-blasts-referees-performance-2180258Really disappointed after that showing from him today, we didn't deserve to lose that. You just hope these things even themselves out over the course of the season. Thought a draw would have been a fair result but oh well, onto Tuesday.

Really looking forward to this game today but came away like many frustrated and disappointed.
The sides came out to a packed away end but our terraces had many gaps; it must affect players. Not sure what the crowd was but take away the away support and I guess you’re left with our core support at best.
Rotherham were an ugly side incapable of playing any football. A team of giants; there must have been 6 or 7 in the 6ft 6in area. They blocked, challenged, closed, headed, tackled, tripped, fouled, left a foot in a little too many times; the referee was genuinely very, very poor. He had lost control by the 2nd half.
Having said that they took the points and fair enough. They didn’t allow us to play, we didn’t get any rhythm to our passing, we missed the chances we had and so the afternoon ended up being a huge disappointment.
O’Toole and Bucko defended well. Brayf was struggling with a knock from yet another over the top challenge. Broadhead is described as a forward and for me there is a difference between a forward and a wide man (winger). Broadhead has a confident first touch I’d like to see him up front in a two with Boyce but it’s not the way we play. So we'll see how it goes.
We have to move on from this one.

I can only echo what everybody has said about the referee. He certainly was absolutely diabolical. When you play a side like Rotherham you do need a strong referee unfortunately we couldn’t have got one any further away from that. He looked completely out of his depth it was quite embarrassing. On the pitch we defended very well against a big strong outfit who do bully you. Again Bucko and John Joe stood up strong and both had cracking games. Again my worry is we have to be more clinical. We had enough chances to get something from the game but somehow managed to throw the points away again. Rotherham are a decent league one side in there own way. Not a pretty side to watch but there good at what they do. We need to show our bounce back ability again Tuesday when we travel to Oxford where i’m expecting another tough one.

I didnt think the referee tended to favour the Millers, albeit their physicality seemed to be ok, but ours not.
I just thought he was poor all round.
No comprehension of advantage, not allowing his linesman to give throw in decisions (except of course when the 4th official overruled on the main stand side). When the linesman on the pop side did tell him about a foul, he didnt flag, but the ref put his finger to his ear to indicate he had been informed. Simply not good enough. The same linesman then ignored the most obvious handball ever in the middle of the pitch, on the blind side of the referee because he can't be seen to referee the game, yet in the corner area he becomes a merry flag waver.
I have constantly praised the officials on here over the past few years and kept reasonably quiet when, occasionally, we have had a bad one.
He had a poor game today.
I hope he is assessed as such.
