Well we move onto Port Vale for a cup game,i get the feeling we are going to a small run down club struggling in league 2. But we go there with the club full of optimism and looking forward to a new era, after new owners. On drawing there first 2 games they take 1400 fans to Salford taking their full allocation. With a squad of 27 players the only player of note is Tom Pope. Vale Park has a capacity of 18-947 seats, and have spent over a decade in the championship,3 years have been spent in league 2 and their average attendance is 5-931, Their manager John Askey says he will make changes. But Nigel intends to take a strong Burton team to Vale Park, Any money from cup competitions are his spending money come January. I see this has a challenge for this new broom, and the Brewers will have to be on their mettle. Should have to much fire power for them and with treating them with respect should get a result, and not on ifollow to watch.

Tenuously connected to the thread, but was that night in 2013 when L** H***** scored that hat-trick in that 7-1 our worst moment in the league? The fact that he scored them, that dance and because it was Port Vale was a seriously bad cocktail. I think that is the only Brewers game for which I have not stayed until the final whistle. By comparison, I was at Bristol Rovers when we lost 7-1 and that moved from being awful to amusing by the time the final whistle went.

We where royally spanked. Got our own back though.. We won 4-0 at their place en route to the championship.

I remember thinking "if I hear Glad All Over once more I won't be responsible for my actions "

The 0-4 was surely our most complete performance ever away from home in the league? They simply couldn’t get the ball off us and we waltzed through their defence at will to score. The ground was virtually empty by 80 mins except for jubilant Brewers fans. A simply wonderful showing.

Terraceman57 (remember him?)bought us hot Wright's pies to eat on the way,a few pints of Jail ale (very nice) in there club and then a right royal thrashing, singing cheerio, cheerio from about 55mins. Back to the Elms to celebrate. Now that's what I call a good day out. 👍😁🍺

Now Fraser makes it 1-2, we gave away a pen for their goal.

277 brewers there. We played well. Not bothered if we had lost but momentum is a good thing and great for Boyce whom. I have been very critical of lately

Morecambe at home..how glamorous. We can close 2 stands. Both ends and just open popside and main stand. Crowd under 2000 unless it's a fiver. Good chance to progress however

Chuffed! Nice to see Fraser and Boycie off the mark this Season.
A nice race between Broadhead, Boyce, Akins (hopefully) for top scorer, will be great for us.
Nice confidence booster all round!

Morecambe at home. Glamour draw! I'm loving the "new" you by the way. I'll just add the same comment I made last year when you weren't too chuffed by the Shrewsbury win. Some of the best cup runs I've ever witnessed have started with horrible, non glamorous ties and to do a Trev ;-) It was only a few years ago Morecambe were stuffing us all over the place and we couldn't buy a goal never mind a point from them. Now we go into these kind of games expecting the win and I love it. Nige in his interview tonight mentioned "when you go away to these lower league teams"!!! I honestly think we've got the chance and the squad this season to prove we are an established top 10 league one club who, with a good wind could easily yoyo between league one and the championship. Please god don't let anyone have spotted how well Scot Fraser has started the season. We need him to hang around to help us get back to where we "belong" ;-) Mighty Burton Albion.

Totally agree about Fraser. Actually, I am very hopeful of playoffs this year as I feel that we have a core that could easily be Championship level players. We are already perhaps more difficult to beat than the first half of last season. Of course, if Bray is fit and injury free, he is class. Quinnie too. Broadhead on what we have seen so far. Bucko had years at Derby, Temps can be a difference maker etc etc. We just need to have a good run where our best and most experienced players are free from suspensions, knocks and injuries as we are so short in numbers. We have good cover, just not much. Sometimes, as the season wears on, I feel that Nigel might have to get this boots back on.

Great result. Hopefully we won't be complacent against Morecambe. Has anyone noticed how Morecambe generally do start a season well. It's usually the other 90% of a season when they struggle. I have a lot of time for Morecambe and always will because of the banner.
Incidentally, returning to that previous Port Vale outing, I recall the experience being soured by Walsall getting 2 extremely late goals to beat cannon fodder Colchester at home 2-1 on the same day. Colchester were bad that season. Even Timmy scored against them.

I watched the clip and came away thinking I've just watched 3 adverts for betting companies! What's happened to football?
Two good goals.
