As I said very very happy with the performance. The only thing missing was a few more goals. Obviously Broadhead looks as though he’s going to be a big player for us but good to see Kieran Wallace having a good game and showing us he can fill in that deeper role. I still don’t understand why some fans still don’t appreciate what Bucko does for this club. This guy is a warrior and oozes experience. Again faultless performance. Even if young Nartey doesn’t play many games , if he watches and listens to Bucko he’ll go back to Chelsea an even better player. Early days but we are a far better team now than the one that started last season. Can’t wait for the next game Totally agree mate. Bucko gives the impression of being a bit slow and heavy, but he is a Captain and a leader; a role that is often underestimated. Never fails to give 100% and throw his body on the line if necessary. Joined with Brayford who would do likewise and a bit of pace around him, Bucko is everything you want in the heart of defence. With the midfield and front, we are indeed a better team than the one the started last season. Love the new additions. When Temps and Quinn are available, we also have some really nice options and cover, for a team that is small in numbers. We just need to get a few goals for Akins and Boycie's confidence early on and I think we will start to fly.

Was at the game today during a short break in Kent. mellymoss & stayinup summed it up perfectly. Bucko was great, typified by winning two headers in quick succession 2nd half and Johnjo too looked comfortable at the back. I thought Fraser ran the midfield first half and Brayford was always an outlet on the right. One of those days when proud to be a Brewer.

Having watched the game today and seeing us go behind against the run of play just happy we got the fully deserved 3 points. We played some good football with Gillingham chasing shadows at times. They had no build up play whatsoever and just played the ball into our box in hope of getting a break.... Could have been at least 4-1 to us and probably more! Fraser had a lot of the ball and Wallace was a rock in front of our defence. Fantastic day for Broadhead who showed his class, reminds me of Michael Owen a bit? Boyce had a few good chances and played well, keeps doing it and they'll go in! We may need to find a reliable Pen taker though? Boyce, Fraser, Quinn, Daniel, Broadhead? COYB 👍🏻

Boom. Needed that. Sets up nicely for Rotherham who are dangerous despite losing today. Broadhead could be a real find. Perfect day.. We just need Boyce to score for confidence. How many y did we take?

Pleasing to get off the mark in what sounded like convincing style against a team that did the double over us last season. We must have been good as Fatty and his assistant said we were better all over the pitch from start to finish. For him to say that it must have been deserved!
Be interesting now to see what side we put out on Tuesday as we look to go one better than last season in that competition(joke!) Can see a few being rested especially with another Saturday-Tuesday-Saturday run of games the week after next. As others have said elsewhere it would be good for Boyce and Akins to get up and running with goals and maybe Tuesday is a good opportunity for that. Think Bucko will have a rest.
Well done the 90 odd that made the trip down there and sounds like you were given a treat! COYB!!!

How many y did we take? If Broadhead can keep scoring goals playing off Boyce we don't actually need Boyce to score Very early days but between them there's a potential great partnership there

They will come, I am sure.

He's not the kind who is going to run and beat 3 players with pace etc. But as a target man he could be superb with the right players around him IMO Someone above said Broadhead reminded them of a young Michael Owen - well that could be perfect. Of course Boyce will need to chip in with some goals as well. But the best teams in the past I can remember had a pair of strikers who would work well together. Let's hope both these two stay fit. We've got to worry about January though with Boyce going out of contract. That's going to hurt us at some stage sadly.

Well done Lads, a win away from home is always a great result especially if you can get one over on an old enemy as well. I can't wait until Saturday as this will be my 1st game of the season "And" I will be expecting points. COYB

So we are a good match for his pub team Trev.😁 A nice feeling 3 points from Gillingham, and enjoying my weekend. the windy conditions made it difficult to control the ball and was a great leveler .Burtons ball control and interplay won the day.5-1 would not have looked out of place. Most clubs expect teams to improve over the coming weeks, So with so many exciting players we can look forward. And to still be competitive after going a goal down missing chances and then a penalty, shows a lot of resilience and character. 4675 at the game 95 brewers and to see the players showing their appreciation to them shows what the club is all about, it was nice to see O:Hara make a mistake but still contribute to a well deserved win.

Great 3 points Saturday. Pleased to get up and running a few games earlier this season. Seems we have continued our style and form from the back end of last season - if we keep that going then playoffs is a realistic possibility.
A few thoughts from Saturday:
- does Quinn come back in for Wallace (can't believe I have just said that but Wallace feels like he is hard to drop) - I wonder what reaction Steve would have got from dropping that one for their goal - Edwards has slotted in the team a lot quicker than I thought he would

I've said many times on here - every keeper makes mistakes.
Look at De Gea last season. One of best if not the best in the world and he had a nightmare run of games with crucial mistakes. Yet he's on verge of 350k per week new contract (which he might not sign as hes a free agent at end of this season!!)
I guess you just want a keeper who looks solids as much as possible. Hopefully we've got one.
I guess we find out over the season. But like the rest them he will make more mistakes.

And we needed it after the first game defeat. When I saw we were a goal down I was a bit worried. Great sign that we took that in our stride, dealt with it and came back. Too early to get carried away but I think signs are promising and if I had to put a bet on us it would be we will finish nearer the top of the league than the bottom. (Providing Nigel is manager all season). You never know in football what's round the corner though This is never an easy league with 4 relegation places. Even with Bury and Bolton so far behind. But if we can't be comfortable in this league this season - we never will be.

Bywater is 38 now and never been a class goalkeeper, and age is catching up with him. O"Hara made a basic mistake, and clashed with his own defender be it in very windy conditions,in his second competitive game in league 1 at 23 years of age, having had 2 games i am sure this goal will be assessed in a team meeting. Edwards certainly making some telling contributions
