Josh Murray has just tweeted and Josh doesn't get much wrong.
I don't know what the fee would be but whatever it is it's not enough and will only grow as he plays more.
He'll leave a big hole if he leaves and we'd have to insist on a sizeable re-sell clause as he won't be at Pompey long if he carries on getting better.
Gutted if he goes and praying he sees his short term future here with us. Even if he stays till christmas I fancy he'd get a bigger move.

On the face of it this must be a joke ,Portsmouth a tin pot club, just naming a couple of championship clubs,Derby=Forest=Middlesboro=Leed=Cardiff=Sheff Wed=Stoke=W_B_A= Just a few who leave Fratton park 18000 capacity rubbish, and not guaranteed to get out of league 1 .just a small town club. The lad has just started on his journey, and currently stands as a important member of our Squad, Its hard as a fan to take players moving forward to just another league 1 outfit, it stinks , for me wrong move wrong time, keep taking the pills Nigel, competing must be one permanent headache.the number of players leaving reminds me of a sunken ship.So heave ho lads keep bailing the water out. Jacket must find it easy with the rest of them, dangle a carrot, shucks it is still league 1

You wouldn't have changed your job then Trevor if someone had offered you an increase of,say,50% of your wages ??

When looking for work, you took a factory or builders type job for good money,or took a apprenticeship for little cash, but over a life time, the apprenticeship worked every time, and if possible a university foute was even better. Marcus is still cutting his teeth and Burton Albion is a route to far bigger riches than a league 1 club. The Club will be in meltdown if not promoted. While the lights at Burton will still be bright

You wouldn't have changed your job then Trevor if someone had offered you an increase of,say,50% of your wages ?? I'd say with some confidence that there will be league one clubs who can (AND DO) offer our players 3 times what they're making with us and they still won't be their top earners. Marcus has a responsibility to look after himself and better himself at the same time. The fact it's a League One "rival" hurts but it's understandable. A 300% increase, you'd have to have a huge heart and love of where you were to turn that down and that applies to anyone in any job. Remember as well that it's only recently we've trusted him fully and he's become an integral part of our plans. Probably Jake Hesketh going back to Southampton forced that on us as well. I'd say we were possibly even close to letting him go at one point. He owes us everything but he owes us nothing if that makes sense. Gutted if he goes, praying he sees "sense" and stays and finally hoping we've been able to get a good deal for him if the inevitable happens. I agree with trev that it's got to be gutting for both Nigel and his staff and for us fans. Nigel knows and accepts that is his reality. For us fans it's a bit harder to accept. Marcus will hopefully have an explosive impact next season wherever he is, if i's with us so much the better.

I hope when they say 'substantial fee' they mean the £1m+ that he's worth, and not something insulting like 150k/

It seems like he will sign, all the signs are there. Don't forget he's been at Burton a good few seasons and had to bide his time getting a regular spot in the first team. Many times warming the bench then last season he made it and made a great impact mostly when he got a game. Good business that NC got him signed up for another season, hopefully means we will get decent money for him, no doubt it will be an "undisclosed" amount.

As soon as I saw the Blades Analytics tweet in respect of Harness (broomo shared on the other thread), I suspected interest would come. That kind of analysis is heavily trusted these days. The Blades Analytic has got a job at Posh on the back of what he was doing on Twitter.
I am mildly amused at some of the praise Marcus is getting in the other place from people who consistently pilloried him throughout his career.
He'll be a miss, we have been very patient he was beginning to look a real player.
Life goes on.

Maybe we could look at it as potentially good business by Nigel. A decent up front fee, a big sell on clause and perhaps some cash to wheel and deal to complete his squad. For a player who made 83 appearances for us in his entire career to date. Just a thought!

Yes I’m frankly well happy we were able to make something here because 12 months ago I’d have bet my bottom dollar he was destined to be released (and I’d have advocated it too) having given very little evidence of being ‘up to it’ over a long time. Fair play to him, hope he bucks the trend and progresses on further.

Fair play to him, hope he bucks the trend and progresses on further. I wrote similar to both of your views on the facebook thread. The only thing I'd add is that as soon as he knew we trusted him and as soon as he got a settled run, he was very, very good on occasions with some glimpses of real talent. I don't think he's the finished article but I do think there is a real player in there and I'd have loved to have seen him stick with us until January then review. I agree we were probably very close to letting him leave and to get cash for him is a pleasant surprise from where we were with him prior to say November/December. If his fee helps us bring someone like Jake Hesketh in on loan and have a bit to spare, I'd still be sad to see Marcus go but I'd take that as an outcome. I wonder if NC fancies the ex Man Utd boy we've got on trial to step up. One thing for certain, we're now going to be active in the market when maybe a week ago some of us thought our business was done. That has both pluses and minuses. We were looking very settled now suddenly we've lost Jamie Allen, Ben Fox and now Marcus (with maybe Boycey still looking for a move??) it's a very different picture all of a sudden. It seemed like Marcus was a popular lad with the rest of the squad as well so I hope this move doesn't knock them back too much. Good Luck Mr Harness, go on and smash it and get us a sell on % worth talking about for years to come.

Interesting, I know you all hate it, but on the official post on Instagram saying Marcus has gone,
Stephen Quinn: "Oh dear!"
Not good form voicing discontent on the social media as a player...

Is that discontent? It would be if Royston posted it Edit: I know you're a stickler for proper English... You know what I mean, dissatisfaction/disappointment.

Struggling to think of the fee involved.
Hopefully it allows us to bring in one or two decent lads.
