I'll have to do a bit of a U-turn on this one. When Derby signed him I thought he was passed his best and not good enough for a play off chasing side.
Don't shout at me but for US and where we are as a club, he's a better than decent signing.
We were crying out for someone to come in and either compete with Damo or replace him, we needed a natural left footer who is comfortable playing the role week in week out. Warnock should be good enough to do both. Only slight concern is whether at 35 pushing on 36, he's got the legs to play a wing back role these days and if not does that mean we're looking to be a bit more solid.
I'd have loved to have had him when he was 28.

He's an ex England international
Villa paid 8m for him which is a hell of a lot for a defender
He's signed for one year
I imagine he's come to play and not fill the bench and will be on a decent bonus if we stay up
Injuries permitting I expect him to play almost every game for us
Brilliant signing
Top quality

On Wigan forum it suggests Warnock a class player on the ball who has another season in him but who can't bomb up and down the line anymore as a full back
As someone says above he's looked solid at centre back when he's been asked to play there and a couple on their forum expected that might have been his role next season had he stayed at Wigan
They also suggest he was a candidate to be their captain had he stayed
Do we need our full backs bombing up and down the line?

What a signing.
He won't be sitting on the bench that's for sure.

Not my cup of tea,at 35 past his best ,I think his attacking full back roll long gone, must be a squad player,A experienced professional here to plug the gaps, within the budget,Nigel feels he has a role to play, and with our budget,he needs a magic wand, and the gift of the gab. Spending on the ground with a new score board ,Nice to have had a big television screen but they cost about a million. Welcome to Burton Mr Warnock it is hard work but fun and what a challenge, some nice days out though,

Past his best sure, but 35 isn't old when you look after yourself as many players do. Zlatan is 35 and still the best striker at old Trafford this season. Ryan giggs was still playing at the top until he was 40. Nigel bought him for his experience and clear ability to continue playing at a good level. Astute signing imo

Always looked assured and confident on the ball when I've seen him play, that will do our team no end of good. Another player with oodles of experience, at a higher level too and again who saw this one coming, NC strikes again.

Interesting to read NC compare him to Gareth Roberts in terms of type of signing. Personally think Warnock is a better player. The only issue for me is his age. If he were 33 even I'd be feeling a it more comfortable. I reckon he's a 25-30 game a season man these days.
Gives us a lot of options though . We've now got a lot of defenders who can play dual roles right and left. Even though I'd love to see Buxton rock up as well, I'm really not sure we need him. I'd prefer to see us bring in a winger who can cross the ball.
We're looking in better shape with each week. Apart from the keeper and o e more attacking midfielder,I'd say that's the majority on ncs hit list in the building and all nicely in time for pre season.

"I'm really happy," he said. "It has been a long summer already and I wanted to get something sorted to play at the highest level possible. Nigel Clough has given me that opportunity and I'm very thankful for it.
"He wants me to bring that experience and a calm head to the place and the changing room, and hopefully I can do that.
"For me, personally, it's nice to come and play for a club that has stayed in the Championship against all the odds, which shows that the manager and playing squad are more than capable of staying in this league."

McFadz... Turner With Brayford and Warnock as your full/wing backs... Purring

Solid signing in my opinion and bolsters the defensive options. Think he played as the left sided player in a back three for Wigan at times last season as well as left back in a back four. Can't see him being a marauding left wing back to be honest at his age.
Interestingly Wigan had the best defensive record in the bottom 10 last season where their problems seemed to be at the other end which ended in their relegation. Think Warnock will play in Turner's position in the first 5 games should we start with three at the back. Maybe this signing could spell the end for Damo?
Personally not too worried about his age as at this stage we are looking for a mixture of signings that are promising with a potential sell on value i.e. Lund and Boyce, or as in the case with Warnock somebody proven in the here and now.

Only in use once a fortnight for a couple of hours and then only to a limited audience. We looked at the one Norwich have got last summer. Significant six figure sums require.
