Our forum is what we make it. I agree with Rayon with regard to Facebook, as people are on that 'all the time' and so perhaps it is ease of use or plain laziness that fb is just there. Having said that i find it frustrating, as said because of the similar and sometime simplistic often repeated comments on there where there are multiple 'threads' saying the same thing
- it is a case of water, water, everywhere and not a drop to think!
What I find equally peeving (well actually annoying) is that the Admin who created this board and a few of my friends only now post there now!
I am constantly frustrated by people coming up to me and saying what a good informative board this is and they don't feckin' well post on here, just read it!!
others post a fantastic post on fb which generates discussussion but not on here too.Whilst I am on my soap box, the club have no interest ( and by interest I mean even acknowledging that we exist )n it whatsoever. Not that in a way it should be linked to it but more to the point it almost never has given us any help promotion wise whilst they know we are not anti establishment. But I do strongly feel that we as a club of any size should have a forum, it would be an embassessment if we did not and I know that most of our views are from guests and therefore I would argue from other clubs although if you as a member do not login the board regards you as a guest not member. In fact I have had quite a few say to me over the years that they have never bothered to join, just look at the board, and that is fine by me but not helpful to the argument here.
Whereas I put up press links when I can it is only Ash Wilkinson from the Burton Mail that posts on here. Any other local media do post links on the fb page but never (don't use that word often) on here although I know they look here.
I have often wondered if they would be bothered if we were bigger, but i doubt it. So i still as a rather uncertain middle age go up to the odd nice young (and sometimes older) man and start talking to them about the forum! I have even considered having business like cards made as a promotion.
So yes it is frustrating, and perhaps I unlike Rayvon yearn for the odd 'off the wall' or 'vaguely idiotic and controversial' poster to shake the forum into life. Although i have also come to the conclusion is that forums are like churches... nobody bothers with them unless in times of crisis!
We have , yourself included got a couple of vocal new members , so keep posting.
but again I got back to my original thought.. a forum is only what we make it- keep posting and you might shake the odd member out of their inertia ! And spread the word..
Right random rant over.
