I am probably missing someone, but since we have been in the League the only strikers that I can recall who came in and made an immediate impact was when Pesch signed James Collins and another lad whose name escapes me, think his last name started with W and he went on the sign for Scunthorpe the next season (although we all wanted him back here). I think we need to be a bit patient with TT and Joachim, it takes a little time to get into the different game style he. But 3 place in L1 ain't bad so I'll trust Jimmy to what needs to be done. Sam Winnall maybe???

Barry Corr goals per game in the league... 0.27. Stuart Beavon 0.22. Stats, eh.

Na that's not reflective of the football I've been following the last few years... Stuart Beavon has given us 0.18 league goals per appearance (better than he gave Preston)... Barry Corr's record for Southend/Cambridge is 0.35 i.e. twice as many (and a significantly higher proportion of Corr's appearances have been as a substitute). Looking at Stu's career stats it looks like he had one great season in 2011/12 (in League 1) when he scored 21 league goals in 43 apps... he's not scored 21 since, let alone in one season... hopefully he can have a more prolific season for us this year?!

Strikers to make an immediate impact. Does 12 goals in 20 games count? If so I give you Billy Kee straight after signing from Torquay in 2011.

With Kees you felt we had a bit of muscular presence/fight in the box... He didn't have that underdog aura which has been a bit of a factor upfront for us since he left (which feels longer than just over a year ago by the way...) Also feels that he's older than 24!

Our second most prolific striker in the league was Shaun Harrad..............signed by Nigel Clough.

I think Sean Farrell had a great impact in the Northern Prem promotion season. Not necessarily prolific, but helped glue that team together in a League that enjoyed giving us a bit of clog. One season wonder but well remembered by me.

So are we talking about the most prolific goalscorers Burton have had since joining the Football League (League goals only) or the best immediate impact?
Billy Kee scored 39 goals, Shaun Harrad scored 31 and then it is either Calvin Zola or Jacques Maghoma, off the top of my head I cannot quite recall who scored more between the two of them. They are our most prolific scorers since we entered the Football League in 2009. FACT.
Or, we are talking about immediate impact. It all depends upon what length of time you are determining as ‘immediate impact’. Billy, for example, failed to score in his first three appearances, albeit from the bench but scored his 39 goals over almost three seasons so by definition was prolific. 12 in 20 in that first season could be termed an immediate impact but over a longer period.
Sam Winnall scored 7 in 19 games during his loan. A goal every 2.71 games. James Collins scored 4 in 10 games. A goal every 2.5 games. Shaun Harrad scored his 31 goals in 62 appearances. One goal every 2 games I make that but over a longer period. – A season and a half. Still makes him prolific. With a better goals to games ratio probably the most prolific we have had in the League. Wasn’t an immediate impact though.
Florent Cuvelier was an immediate impact. 1 goal every 6-8 minutes I think it was! Hardly prolific though.
Prolific and immediate impact are two different things. The point is which do you want to look at?
Stats eh? You can make them say whatever you want them to say.

Beavon strikes again and certainly on track to be a 20 goal striker this season if he can stay fit

Saw this thread and thought it was worth asking the question. 'Do we still need a new striker or do we have one in Beavs?'

Beavon is getting older... I think we need a couple who look promising for the future. That said, Timmy Thiele and Aurelien Joachim should do OK. Just need them to find their feet

We're in a very fortunate position at the moment, in that should a quality striker become available, it may be worth considering but there is certainly no urgent need.
Beavon is clearly loving it at the Brewers and providing we can keep him fit and un-injured, then we have an absolute gem.
Appreciating that he is getting older (just as we all are) then a replacement in a year or two would be useful but we must also see how Thiele and Joachim develop with our coaching methods.
You never know...we may already have the answer within our ranks?

At this current level you'd actually expect Beavs to be good for another 3 years. He gives so much to the team over and above his goals.

Beavon strikes again and certainly on track to be a 20 goal striker this season if he can stay fit With 5 goals in 9 games he is now on track to score 25.6 goals. And with the formation Jimmy generally prefers, 4-2-3-1, with Duffy, Akins, Nasser (Matty, JBW) making up the 3 as rotating, attacking midfielders I think we are fine right now and TOTT supports that. It would be nice to have a few more goals and we should have more really if we were more clinical in the box. Once TT and AJ get more into the English league I feel they will bring more to the table. COYB!!
