Enjoyed the game yesterday! If the team can get something from the Plymouth and Wycombe games, maybe a total of 4 points? Would virtually seal promotion, because the chasing pack (4th,5th,6th,7th places)will not win all of there remaining games.

Would love 3 points on Friday as I work with a Plymouth fan but it's going to be a tough game and one hell of a trek for anyone heading down on a bank holiday Friday!!

We need to win one of the next two games imo
Overall I feel we need to take 11 points from next 8 games
It's like a mini season
Sooner we take these points the better

Its basically down to any 3 from 4 for automatic promotion. Bury being the outsiders. They have to make up 10 points on us from their 8 games, its possible but a very tall order. None of that is relevant if we pick up enough points so as Jimmy says its what we do that matters. This easter is a crucial period with tough games against Plymouth A and Wycombe H. Shrewsbury play Dagenham H, Mansfield A. Wycombe prior to coming to the Pirelli have a local derby at home to Oxford. Bury have to go to Cambridge and entertain Morecambe. Quoting observer that we need 11 points from 8 games, that would give us 88 points. Bury can only get 91 so 88 should be enough. A key game is on 14th April when Bury take on Shrewsbury. A point at Plymouth and at home to Wycombe would not be a disaster but a win in one or both is preferable and preferably that is in the Wycombe game. That would leave us on 81 points with 5 games to play and needing roughly a point a game.

Problem we have is the other 3 teams up there with us are all in good form
Bury in particular
Which is why we need to keep doing well ourselves
Our lead over Wycombe and Shrewsbury is next to nothing and fact is we need to keep getting good results or they will comfortably over take us
Bury are more than capable of winning 7 of last 9 matches the form they are in and momentum they have
It's going to be hard to get promoted this season

Shrewsbury, Wycombe and Bury don't look as though they will have another wobble. I still believe that a points total between 88 and 92 will be needed just to get 3rd.

I try and be realistic about what I see
A few weeks ago I saw teams around us wobbling and was happy
Now I see teams around us looking very solid and doing the business
I don't see any one of them falling away now so all I am saying is we have a hell of a lot of hard work still to do

Don't you worry Observer, a few weeks ago we weren't top of the league We are now, hold on tight!! Football's a funny old game earwig Fact is we need plenty of points still and no easy games We've just drawn at home whilst our two closest rivals won away from home Nobody will hand us this on a plate It's not about worrying as such it's about wanting to see the job through If we don't go up from here we never will so let's hope we finish the job

We have 4 wins and a draw from our last 5 games, Bury fans are not optimistic about getting an automatic promotion place. The pressure is all on them, its Bury we are talking about not Manchester United, basically with an 7 point lead(if Bury win their game in hand) we have to finish 3rd out of 4 teams to get promoted in the last 7 games. If we lost to Plymouth and Wycombe this weekend they would still have to win all their games. I'm confident we can do what is required to get up. The Bury v Shrewsbury game on 14th April will be very interesting for us and Wycombe. I understand where you are coming from observer and the sooner the 11 points are on the board the better.

Observer is right to be fair. Football is a funny old game and we're talking about incredibly fine margins now.
If you look at the fixtures objectively up next we're at Plymouth who are on a run and will have a bumper crowd with it being Good Friday. Then we're hosting the team with the best away record in the league who's manager desperately wants to go up as champions. I watched them against Luton and I was very impressed.
Worst case scenario - if we lose both Easter games and Bury win both of theirs we could find ourselves in 3rd place with Bury only 4 points behind with a game in hand...oh, and our following game will be at the one of the most intimidating grounds in the football league! I'm not saying that will happen but it's a possibility and then the pressure is cranked up.
I'm confident that we'll go up but I think it will be either at Morecambe or in our final home game against Northampton. Could even go down to the wire. It's nowhere near cut and dried yet though. Not by a long chalk.

Oh my word, there was me thinking we were in pole position to get promotion. I'm right depressed now, please, please, please Earwig post another positive view & bring me back from the edge or at least save me downing the contents of another bottle.

It wouldn't surprise me too much (or alarm me too much maybe) if we got nothing from the next two games - but this would mean getting 9 or 7 points from the three that follow (Luton, Carlisle & Morecambe) a tough ask I think, as I don't believe any of these will be easy games. I'm saying this is where I hope we can ick up the points, as I also hope we don't need to beat the Cobblers at home or Cambridge away in our last two fixtures - these are two established League clubs capable of raising their game for their own season finales - whether they have anything to play for or not - they'll want to show they can beat little old Burton I'm sure......we've played them enough times now for a little bit of rivalry to exist - I'm sure more than a few of their fans begrudge us our recent success and think they should be where we are.....
There I've looked into the future and scared myself - so, I think I'll take a leaf out of Jimmy's book - stay calm, believe and take one game at a time.....having witnessed the second half performances against Southend and Stevenage..... I find remembering these are a big help........
Sorry Tollerton and peacock........I seem to have outed myself as a "worrier" - perhaps I should've kept my worries to myself..........too late now.....
Come on you Brewers!!!

Doubt is wrong word
Realism is more like it
Realistically we have still got a huge job on our hands IMO
We've got a great chance but need several more great performances to deliver the goods
We are good enough but we need strong character to get the job done
We are up against strong character in our rivals

I see the thought police are about. How dare people have an opinion and be a little cautious.

There is always a bit of concern due to the unknown but why not enjoy the ride and believe in what we have done rather than worry about what could happen. Speaking realistically we have lost 3 of our last 23 matches and with a +23GD in those games. We have beaten Wycombe, Shrews and Bury in those 23 games, and Southend if people are worried about them. To not be promoted we would have to have a total collapse and I don't think that is going to happen. I'll put my faith in Jimmy and the players. We are going up!
