When the transfer window closed , I did say where are the goals going to come from, signing a bunch of kids from youth team football is not the answer. They couldn't score in a b*****l.

I don't understand many things.
Photosynthesis, particle physics, why we made no changes at half time and why we had Kamwa and Carayol on the same wing.
I do understand how an artesian well works, thanks to Mr Shaw, Todwick juniors 1977/78.
Mr Shaw did a good job.

Personally I think several of you are very harsh on Martin. Those at both forums this year could see Ben’s anger and disillusionment with Dino, but when Martin came in the decision had already been made to ship out our experienced forwards and bring kids in. I believe to save around £11k a week on Stockton, Walker and Gordon. Martin did his best in the limited time available to bring some talent in, but was unlucky with Jonathan Leko, the Hugill deal was already over the line and Ola Adembomi, Hackford and Hudlin were probably rushed as we needed bodies in from somewhere but not the managers fault. Yes we are in trouble as we can’t steal a goal at the moment and it looks like it will go to the wire. But give the manager a chance - we won’t get better.

Very little to add anymore from what's already been said before. This feels a slow painful death where you no longer expect us to win, that feels like a given, but are just hoping that the teams below us don't win. 3 defeats and 2 draws for those below us today so on the face of it little damage done but Cheltenham and Fleetwood look like they are up for the fight at least and they will be looking forward to those games against us towards the end of the season and I can personally see both of those reeling us in.
Next week appears a must win but will MP see it as a must not lose? I feel that every game now since those back to back away wins(were they really 6 games ago?) has seen us setting up and being happy with a point. A negative mindset from the start and it hasn't worked. Port Vale are in dreadful form at the moment and haven't won in something like 12/13 games. Fans are in revolt and they already think they are down. There for the taking? You would think so but before Carlisle beat us they had lost 8 on the trot and have since lost 4 on the trot so Vale are actually getting better results than them! Unless we are change something and try and be ultra positive I expect us to lose again albeit narrowly and probably with another hard luck story.
Strange as it may sound I think that until we actually drop into the bottom 4 then MP won't change anything and will just sit tight and hope for a scrambled win or battling draw and keep everything crossed that nobody below us picks up. Very, very risky and although his interviews are bullish and positive what you see from his team on the pitch is night and day. Worrying signs. Think we need Hughes ASAP as he is our best defender and probably not that far off being our most effective attacker when he goes up for a corner.

Are you all really surprised reality hits home, four seasons not just this season flirting with the relegation zone. Poor preseasons not up to speed at the start of this season, the self appointed one eventually gone, another one appointed who talks a good game but rarely delivers, not all his fault and left with having to sign kids up front. You cannot totally blame the current manager for the situation the football club is in at the moment,do we blame the fans certainly not, they are one of the most patient and loyal in League One. Although if the club does get relegated it will be the fan’s fault not enough through the gates etc, because nobody at the club will be willing to take any responsibility for their own bad decisions. Looking in from the outside things seem not good,we can only hope the teams below us in the table are as equally rubbish, should the current manager continue if we get relegated definitely not,I think the supporters have seen enough already! I dread to think what season ticket sales will be in the coming weeks, you can’t serve up hoof ball all the time, and get away with trying to fool the fan’s. And before anyone says your not a real supporter I have a season ticket,I’ve seen the low quality football served up this season,it’s disappointing because this club used to have real passion and connection with the fans but not anymore!

Yes we are in trouble as we can’t steal a goal at the moment and it looks like it will go to the wire. But give the manager a chance - we won’t get better. I think most people want him to do well and are prepared to give him a chance but at some point questions have to be asked, on here at least. Yes, we are only 12 games in to the MP reign but we are worse off than when he took over, that's a fact. Yes, the decision to ship out Stockton, Walker & Gordon was made before he joined but let's be honest they had done absolutely zero up to that point. Yes, he has replaced them with untried youngsters but it's his decision to generally start one of these four at a time. I bet if you looked back on all the games since the end of January then of those 4 players only two of them have appeared on the pitch at the same time for about 10% of the game time. That's the managers decision. He still persists with the long throws and with Joe Powell taking free kicks anywhere from the half way line onwards and just punting it forward from long range. Again, that's the managers decision. We actually do have attacking options in the squad, albeit many of them hit and miss, but very few are on the pitch at the same time so it's ever likely we will struggle to score. Deji continues to play in an advanced role where anybody with half a brain can see that it's not his natural game. These are all decisions the manager makes and hasn't changed. He must have some ideas on how to be more offensive from his Barnsley days and I personally would like to see some of those tried. I'd rather go down fighting and try something different than continue with this and die wondering.

I travel a 70 mile round trip to home games and enjoy the trip but i do question my sanity, when you watch absolute dross, week after week on the pitch. It was an awful result today against ten men and i really do fear next saturday's game against vale, who have worse form than ours.

Despite their form, Vale will be rubbing their hands knowing they have us. If you're out of form and in desperate need of a victory, I doubt you'd want to play anybody else than us in the 92 right now.

We did create chances, we didn't take them.
But after the gift of the sending off, we didn't try to impose, to press, we kept the same formation from the start of the 2nd half, we continued to gift possession and looked to counter. The changes when they did come were a bit strange, Caprice left on as the only right attacking threat (he did ok), but Kamwa on at lwb and then Carayol on in left midfield. Kamwa beat their full back readily but too often his starting position was in his own half.
Hackford missed a sitter!

Hackford just does not look sharp enough for what we need right now. We can all see Powell is still playing to far back where Deji should be. I would stick with Harper in midfield and Helm imo is better coming on as an impact player… He gives possession away far to cheaply. As mentioned MP stayed with the same formation from the 1st half to start 2nd half even when they had 10 men, why? Tactically the substitutions were desperate again in bringing attacking players on and not really having any balance in the side to keep possession and build on it. Bringing so many attacking players on doesn’t mean you will create chances. Helm should have come off earlier with Powell pushing further forwards with Kamwa on the pitch. Even with all the changes we sat too deep especially with the extra player. It was worse than the Carlisle game in not going for it and showing urgency to win the game. Waiting to go behind in every game before releasing the shackles just puts pressure on the players to deliver with most of the game already gone. Even after today’s disappointing result I really do think potentially we could have a decent team, just don’t think MP can see what’s needed and who to select in which position.

Someone will be along shortly to give a positive slant on today's result. Cambridge lost 4-0. COYB. Only joking.....it feels like today was a bit pivotal. How long can this go on. Port Vale at home? I'd rather not. Wigan away. Defeat. 8 games left. Ugh. Like Mr Rotten said in San Francisco "This is no fun...at all."

Don't know who'll be looking forward to next Saturday the most? Only Cambridge in worse current form than us, with Vale the next worse. Both sets of fans will be thinking they've got the best chance to kick start the season, and both sets of fans will be fearing the worse. Let's hope we have our best players available, and let's hope MP not only picks them but also plays them in their best positions? We've got to get at em from the start, at the same time not leave the back door open.

"let's hope MP not only picks them but also plays them in their best positions?" - unfortunately I cannot see him changing much at all. We will still have 5 at the back, Powell will still be further back and Deji will still be in the team (as Paterson said) as a no.10!! (don't make me laugh). I would love to see Martin turn it all around as he comes across a likeable bloke, but we are rapidly running out of games to do it. Seddon and Kamwa should both be starting IMO.

I think he'll set up with the same system as against Carlisle. I can only see one outcome, I'm afraid. And yes, I AM afraid. There again, I enjoyed League Two last time.

To be honest I think yet again some of us on here need a reality check about where we are at currently. We are a tiny club with the lowest home following in League 1. We could make more money from away fans, but choose not to, out of some sort of misguided loyalty (in my opinion). This morning I went onto Companies House and looked at our last filed accounts from April last year, due again next month. We posted a £449,068 loss on a £5,778,389 turnover and if we can’t increase that through gate receipts or transfer revenue, then we have to cut back by other means. Wages are the obvious one and it looks like we went down that track in January to save around £11k per week (£572,000 annually), which has plunged us into relegation trouble. We are trying to get goals from 3 kids who had never appeared in the EFL before (one of which had struggled at Altrincham in the National League last season) plus the 6ft 9 lad who we were warned is not up to League standard. It was a gamble and one that has not paid off so far, but it could still (just). But perhaps getting out of that loss making situation was important for our future and will enable us to carry on as an EFL club. But I’d reiterate that I don’t believe that this situation is Martin Patterson’s fault, the guy is doing his best to ‘find a way to win (and to score)’. He deserves our support to try to save us and if the worst happens, the chance to build an exciting promotion campaign next season. But in reality surviving in the Football League is probably where we are at currently, not competing like for like with Derby, Bolton, Portsmouth, Blackpool, Peterborough etc

If we're going to be in danger of going down (and that's now a real danger in my mind), I'd rather have a go than be negative and try and grind out points.
Crocombe
Hamer Brayford Sweeney Seddon
Helm Harper Powell
Carayol Hugill Kamwa
And take the game to Vale next weekend. No more of this 5 at the back with 4 centre-mids rubbish.
