When we look back at it I'm very pleased. We've gone from a sense of uncertainty with a caretaker boss, a star striker with issues and a fear of being dragged in to the relegation battle to optimism with a new boss at the helm who inspires confidence, is saying the right things but not clichés. A whole new strike force although young and untested, but you'd hope at least 2 will grasp the opportunity and who's to say all 4 won't be giving Paterson a headache with regards to who to leave on the bench.
Not forgetting Bola who has come in to add competition for the wing back slots and will get an opportunity to shine with Sedds rush of blood (again). He's another who's not reached the heights of early promise, our kind of risk and you hope he gets a run of games injury free and shows what he's capable of. Contract in the summer beckons if so....
Bez, no great loss. Agree with MP on that one, if you don't want to desperately be here, do one.
Lakin with the usual hokey cokey, off our hands in the summer.
I'm interested to see what happens when we have all 4 centre backs fit, will it be rotation or will he have a preferred 3. Moon's on a 3 year, Hughes out of contract in the summer, will either have a bearing, or will it be a chance to rest people with games thick and fast. A great problem to have.
So, the 3 strikers out on loan to League 2... Stockton was in the pipeline before MP, seemed to intimate will review in the summer. Will be interesting to see what happens. With Walker and Gordon do we hope they bag some goals and we can get a bit of cash in the summer, or do we hope they come back confident and get another opportunity but this time as part of a pair up front?
No freshening up of the midfield but we have depth and we really needed to get attacking intent in to the squad. I'd be happy to see Harper holding with Helm and Powell either side with more freedom to support the front 2. Get Joe where he can hurt the opposition more. ( Yes, I had massive issues with his lazy pathetic defensive performances over the last few years, so I'm pleased to see the immense improvement this season, well done Mr Powell).
It's important to get some points this month to keep any lingering fears of being dragged in at bay. Let's hope the 4 young guns fire us to safety. It's great to have options up front too that can have an impact, I imagine Hudlin will cause issues if he came in at 60 mins in. A completely different proposition for a defence, the long throws may actually produce something.
Well done Ben, MP and his team. It's looking a lot brighter at the start of February than December or January. Here's hoping for May too!

Interesting and optimistic thoughts redders. It is pleasing to hear a manager not run through the usual clichés but MP does use this current phrase to get players ‘in the building’ That annoys me!
I’m a little disappointed that we haven’t added experience and creativity to the midfield. Any side of mine would have an engine room and I do feel we lack proven depth there bar Joe Powell of course.
Two games in a few days, really looking forward to it.

We have probably reduced the wage bill significantly which was very probably Ben’s objective. For me we have a great keeper, strong back line and decent midfield. I just hope the kids upfront can get us enough goals and that’s where I worry.

I think I heard in MP's interview him praising Gilligan's training.... Don't be surprised if he gets a chance in midfield at some time tomorrow or Tuesday...

I hope you’re right Colston - listening to Hudin it sounds like Martin wants to go very direct. I’m not sure what some on here will think but if it produces winning football I really don’t mind.

New manager - time to shine, Mr Gilligan.

Gilligan doesn't make the squad today.
