I for one see the last match (FA cup) as a blip, we got caught cold well and truly. I know we've had our defensive frailties lately but tighten that up and go again. It's been a bit mad over the festive season, I wouldn't say any manager hasn't mentioned it at some point about affecting his team. We are no different there but I'd say less chance of giving players a rest due to the size of the squad.
We need to change our fortunes against them, we've only beat them once in 6 matches including our defeat at Wembley with no draws.
This is cruel so soon after the Northampton game still haunting me, I remember Fleetwood ripping our defence to shreds at the Highbury Stadium, another 4-1 mauling. Fleetwood a small mans Blackpool the 2nd smallest stadium in league 1, we have the 3rd, Shucks SOUTER and DUnne were immense both full backs had pace, Coults ran mid field Rossiter sat deep and Dempsey ran amok Madden played a goal poacher role, Burns sent Brayford dizzy And Evans just sniffed for opportunity . A proper Joey Barton side physical hard working takes no prisoners and uses crossing the line [WHO Me ] Cross goal==cross goal seemed simple. There performance was like a polished Northampton Town and being shell shocked was the same effect felt. out of 5 games Fleetwood have scored 4 twice. Be a education to see what Nigel does for this one. Be some game if Burton win
Low crowd Saturday me thinks. Fleetwood fans in the seats. 2200 like Rochdale. We do not have a great record against them so right now I'd take a 1.0 win of someone's backside. A win and we all forget Sunday.
Their away record in the league this season is not that impressive.
W3 D2 L5 as I recall. scored 19 but conceded 20. They look like a side that are better at home than away so could be there to be got at if we play with the right intensity and play the way we know we can.
We don't have a great record against them but those sorts of runs are made to be broken.
Right Fleetwood home. Little tantrum well and truly over and I do fancy us for this one. Usually after a bit of a blasting when our backs are against the wall we come out fighting and are at our best. Another big big game and certainly as difficult as they get but I’m backing Brayf , Bucko , Quinn , Scotty, Lucas and Boycie if all selected to make a point and get us the 3 points. I am really looking forward to this one ( although to be honest ) I look forward to them all. After everything this last few days we are capable of beating anybody in this league. A little freshen up in certain areas over the next few weeks and Nigel will have us ready for the next few months. COYB
Update Fleetwood signed another 6ft plus defender Connolly from Everton to bounce our lads about on loan
Quite often plays in midfield which is where, it sounds like Fleetwood intend to use him, as a replacement for the injured Jordan Rossiter. Was at Lincoln first half of the season but not played since middle of November and didn’t even get off the bench against us in December.
Up the Brewers tomorrow, what is it about Fleetwood that means one doesn’t feel confident before the game? Looking forward to it.
Agreed. I remember a few victories against them. 4-0 and 3-2 at their place and 2-1 at ours in our League One promotion season. Mark Duffy scored a couple.
I also remember a couple of defeats but never mind those. I was at the game at Fleetwood this season and we gave them four goals - they didn't need to be particularly impressive - we caved in. It's in our own hands.
