Sunderland are up for sale, it would be a surprise if they were to spend money whilst on the market. Being up for sale does not mean you stop making sensible business investments. The money involved in this deal would be small change in the grand scheme of things. And if this helps them get in to the playoffs then this makes the club a better proposition for sale. We should play the " selling to a league competitor" card to bump the price up as much as possible. Also no one could argue with Boyce leaving to Sunderland, a much bigger club that will give him a reasonable pay rise.

Ironically Boyce scored the header that sent them down to league 1.

Black Cats seem to have gone cold on signing Boyce. This comes the day after NC said they have rejected two offers for him but didn't say who from.
And edit Hearts interest......

Will Grigg was supposed to be off to Salford. guess if that happens it might get Sunderland back in for Boyce. I can't see what good going to Hearts would be, unless they are paying top money on wages
I reckon Nigel has persuaded Boyce and Fraser to stick with us to the end of the season, give it a real go to see if we can get into the playoffs, and the new signings are a statement of that intent
wouldn't it be lovely if Boyce and Fraser were back in the Championship next season........

Four British clubs interested in him according to something I read earlier, sounds like things are hotting up now the end of the window is approaching.
Providing nothing happens soon I think the next two games could be vital, if we pick up a couple of wins we’ll be in a very good position and Boyce and Fraser could possibly want to stick around in the hope that we’re a Championship club next season.

Why on earth would Boyce want to sign for a club set to be playing in the Scottish Championship next year?
He's not a daft lad, he knows going to back to the farmers league would be career suicide.

I personally believe NC is just doing his best to get as much money as he can for Boyce that he can re-invest in a more long term player

If Boyce goes out of contract we wouldn't be able to afford his wages anyway whatever league we are in IMO i want to be wrong but I can't see him staying

Unless Hearts are breaking the bank for Boyce, financially it wouldn't be huge move for him. I do wonder what they have offered us.
Boyce is our joint best paid player along with Brayford/Akins, all of whom are on around £3k a week. I don't know if we have offered Boyce a new deal yet but given Lucas signed a nice contract not so long ago I'd be wanting parity with that one and not reduced terms.
Hearts best paid player is Steven Naismith who is on £4.5k a week, remember Naismith has played and scored in the Premier League over a number of years before his move to Hearts, so what are Hearts going to offer to Liam to blow us out of the water? £5k week? Plus they are highly likely to go down this season.
If I was Boyce, even though it leaves us short of £££ if we do choose to sell, I would hold out until the end of the season when it's likely he'll have a lot more offers on the table.

Unless he gets injured, that is always a problem for a player holding out to the end of his contract.

With Jamie Murphy coming in Boyce has a even better chance of becoming a 20 goal striker, and his options in the summer should increase. Sunderland getting him on the cheap they would just swallow him up, they only play with one striker anyway. and Hearts who wants to go into a relegation fight in Scotland, Burton have a good strike force and he is a big fish in a little pond, Nows the time to listen to Nigel. Akins is a dream a top=top player, thats were my money would be ,Sunderland fans quite happy to just weaken the Brewers

Understand Sunderland not after Boyce as they couldn’t off load Will Grigg due to overvalue in transfer and loan markets

It does look like he’s leaving now though for a rumoured £150,000.

Daily Record report that Boyce has agreed a 3.5 year deal with Hearts. Aberdeen were also interested. The fee report is 150k. Curious given the Sunderland manager said we turned 200k down. As with all Albion transfer fees we will probably never be told

£150,000 is frankly awful.
