I feel uneasy about this one, if we lose against these now they've gained a little momentum I will be very, very, very upset.
I can take the Accy defeat, more respect there.
You know what I'm saying

Much as I would love to win this match on Wednesday I feel that with their improved form and our tired bodies we may well lose this one. I really hope not as in my opinion they should have been sent the same way as Bury but some preferential treatment from the EFL where they were allowed to play the youth team for the first half dozen games of the season which gift wrapped three points and a hatful of goals to a number of teams in the league and where they also postponed games as and when they felt like it which saw them survive.
To be honest in the long run I see the Northampton game as far more important given the prize money on offer and the potential of a money spinning tie in round four which could see an influx of funds for the January window plus getting some existing players tied down to contracts where possible. With that in mind we need to rest some key players for the Bolton game so we can go full strength for the cup match.
Transfer and contract activity in January are far more important than one league game that we may or may not win anyway and in the long run the potential revenue from the cup is vital.

Bolton away another tricky we should win game, problem is league 1 for a club our size all games are hard. Moving on from their problems, they play in the University of Bolton Stadium capacity 28-723 and even though in a dire mess they average over 11 thousand gates, something Burton could only dream off. Manager Keith Hill they brought in 9 new signings and have a big budget for league 1=Bridcote=Luke Murthy=Buckley=Daryl Murphy=Jack Hobbs=O"Grady=Earl=Cranford=and they have some very talented young players and goal keeper Mathews has had some inspiring games. With our patched up squad i feel the match could test our mid table position and leave us in the bottom half of the table A draw just to keep them below us, shucks i said that against tiny Accrington and look how that turned out

The Bolton situation stinks really. I genuinely can see a situation where a club takes legal action against the EFL at the end of the season because of e.g. goal difference for teams who played Bolton in August. That being said, and I am a broken record on this site about it, we should have played our fixture against Bolton at the beginning of October despite of international commitments. We would have smashed them. We will now play the home fixture after they have had time to gel as a team and have another transfer window. Yes we may strengthen as well in Jan but the gap will be closer.

What were you worrying about? We were obviously just lulling them into a false sense of security 😁

Phew. Good result. Great result considering the position we got ourselves into!

That was a real 6 pointer, but not in the traditional sense.
- 3 points that we really needed just because it is good for us to win. - 3 points that Bolton Wanderers didn't get.
Luke Murphy, once a Brewer, always a Brewer. Maybe he hates them too.

didn’t think we’d come back after going 2 down to poor defending again. The players that came in did really well with Joe having a good game especially. Would like to see him take a chance in running into our oppositions box a bit more. A good deserved win in the end but we do like to make hard work of it! Wonder if Boyce is tempted in going back up to Scotland and join bottom of the SPL Hearts in a relegation battle. A step back IMO COYB 👍🏻

9 points over Christmas - happy days. Given our depleted squad i think that is a tremendous effort.
Interested to hear from those who went how Edwards did in the DM role in place of quinn?

I like Ryan Edwards but I thought the best person in the Quinn role, when he came off the bench, was Quinn. Ryan went back further forward and soon set up Boyce for the fourth goal. Anyway... my match report here. Seven goals, a sending off, as Brewers come from 2-0 down in 11 minutes to win 4-3 and make it 9 points from 12 in 4 festive games, with 11 goals in all. Not bad going. www.derbytelegraph.co.uk/burton/brewers-come-out-top-seven-3697386

Great victory today and fantastic to see us battle back from 2-0 down and then go onto dominate although it sounded a bit tense at the end. Sounds like all the players have come through unscathed today which sets us up for the crucial cup tie, in financial terms, on Sunday.
It has to be said that looking at the league table promotion is there for the taking for any club in the top half, and even some in the bottom half, who can string together consistent results in the second half of the season. For us, much will depend on how the squad looks at the end of this month, where you suspect that there will be a number of in's and out's. If we had more resources and financial clout you suspect that the current squad with three or four additions would stand a great chance of getting into the play offs at least but alas it is unlikely we will really push the boat out.
Either way we have had a good Christmas and there is lots of reasons for optimism. Is it the 1st of February yet!?!

3 points from the play offs. We need to strengthen in the window to have any chance of been in the mix for the top 6. I think it's there for the taking. Even Wycombe are faltering and Oxford lost today. Rotherham looking the strongest so far. I see no reason why we cannot make the play offs if we dodge injuries to key players and sign some new players this month to add strength in depth. Otherwise we will float into lower mid table and stay there till May with crowds of God knows what.
