What a night. Yes, Boyce, Quinn outstanding. Ryan man of the match for me. More threat from his endless running tonight (even when less threat, he does a lot of the dirty work). 26,000 might be a small crowd for them but they were largely quiet apart from getting at their own team; it must be very difficult to play in front of them but, as Nigel pointed out, it can be for the visiting team too. This lot were chanting "sacked in the morning" at a manager who's been there a month! It's all so bonkers up there that it might happen... Our perfectionist manager says we could have played better in the first half... when we nonetheless outplayed Sunderland. Make no mistake, this one's a big, big win. Is it that Boyce now has 8 goals? Yes correct. Only 3 in the league though

This was why I was annoyed (frustrated is a better word) after the Peterborough game. For me we are certainly good enough to be at least a top 4 side in this league. Agree with pretty much everything on here. Edwards Boyce etc put in brilliant shifts and yes a massive massive win.

Watched on iFollow. It’s a good service but I always feel guilty particularly when the cameras pan to our fans. Can’t be right for football? As ever would be better with the microphones in the crowd and no Radio Derby commentary.
If you’ve followed football for 30, 40 years and more; Sunderland 1 Burton Albion 2 just doesn’t look right !
Sunderland had 26000 in there last night. 13 times our hard core attendance. They looked like a team on the way out, they really did.
The effort and commitment from our lads was brilliant to watch, Sunderland didn’t get a look in. Quinn was all over the park, Edwards and Fraser never stopped running and possibly the best I’ve seen Boyce play. He seems to enjoy the space he gets playing wide or off a front man. The back heel for the first goal and flick for the move that lead to Fraser hitting the bar were brilliant. Clearly we had players out there playing through injury and the games come thick and fast now through till January. Team selection on Saturday will be interesting.

Cracking result against a once mighty but now fallen giant Sunderland, well done to all, especially the hardy fans who made the journey, I applaud you. COYB

Wow a loss from me, what a superb Burton team was at the Stadium of light, O"Hara solid==Nartey solid=Buxton solid=O"Toole=solid. Wallace playing against a very pacy winger gave 100% and still had a very good game. Quinn was head and shoulders above every one, Edwards gave 100% took the game to Sunderland and scored a poachers goal had a very good game. Fraser looked tired, but never stopped running and was at his creative best. Akins as always a stand out player, and covered more than one position. Boyce worked hard, showed some class and scored, Sarkic shows some nice touches, worked hard, Templeton came on worked hard and was a threat. Brayford -Daniel came on to do a job. 3 points out of 2 difficult away games makes it a satisfying week, going into a cup game. After a win like that all the players deserved a mention.

Looking on the 14 page Sunderland forum page, no mention of Burtons players and how well they played, and the best team won. But a total meltdown on the owners and manager. 26-000 a small gate for Sunderland, and still on parachute payments, of coarse league 1 promotion is the objective, and their finances demand it. After this result the mood is toxic , and Sunderland players do get a mention, one striker alone cost 7 times more than the whole Burton squad. A club that have a 3-000 average attendance, 1 quote== Burton at home and i have no faith we can win it [reply] Blimey is it that bad, quote ==in real terms it is lower than anyone could ever imagine , i feel numb. after this post , The mighty Brewers won 1-2. we should send them a of copy of walk on water, [ it starts from picking the right manager ] then sticking to the day job,and letting him get on with it fans calling for Kevan Phillips shucks a total novice. and they wonder why they are in a mess. Tues shown them what can be achieved with nowt.

Great win. Have only seen the Sky highlights on YouTube but some good play in there from us. Their pen looked a bit soft. Sunderland must think of us as a bogey team and Boyce pops up again after sending them down from the Championship. I think it's hilarious listening to the boos ringing out from their 'fans'. 26000 at the game, because there is f*** all else to do in Sunderland! Need to try and put a bit of a run together now. But like someone said - small squad, injuries bite and become pushed to the limit resource wise.

Shows the difference between clubs, been on the newsnow Burton Albion and it is all about the meltdown of Sunderland, and the fact that being beaten by a club like Burton Albion shows how low the club has got, and it does not help that Newcastle fans reflect the meaning GONE FOR A BURTON. But joking apart reading about Sunderland on a Burton Albion page shows how much the media and tv follow the big clubs and the financial clout they have. Tomorrow maybe back to the Brewers, and a difficult cup match, and back to gates of 3-000, The biggest joke of all is that money always wins and after a total meltdown Sunderland are only 3 points off the play offs, i see Portsmouth coming up on the outside. Small clubs normally get caught out with the size and quality of the big spenders over a season
