Gutted that Lucas didn't get the chance to play in this, such a big occasion for us and the bloke who has done arguably more than any other player in our recent history misses out.
Bumped into Ben Fox and Richard Nartey before the game. First of all Richard wouldn't confirm he was out but you could tell by his face he'd be missing the game, we missed his pace.
A couple of things on him. I've watched as many full games as I could back on ifollow and this lad is brilliant. He's got such composure, nothing flusters him at all and once he gets more experience he's going to go on to be a very good player indeed. I'm going to make a REALLY bold statement here. Although he's not got the raw pace my own feeling is he's ALMOST as good at defending as Des Walker was at the same age. Boom! I've said it. He will play in the Premier League. It may take a couple of years for him to mature into that but he will get there.
What I like most though is how he waited for his chance, kept his head down, kept smiling and didn't grumble, for a lad coming from Chelsea he's got no airs and graces about him at all and he's clearly a very bright boy.
Then Ben Fox, how lovely it was to see him looking in very good nick. Huge smile on his face when he was talking about getting back on to the grass. His face absolutely lit up when I asked him if he'd kicked a ball yet. It's tough when a young player like that is out for any length of time but one thing it definitely does is remind them of their pure enthusiasm for the game, If they ever lost it. Foxy must be way ahead of schedule, his knee looks to have healed brilliantly and all he's got to do now it not try to rush things even if he wants to.
Take it steady, get strong and then it will be brilliant to have him back.
One thing I was reminded of yesterday, we've got some brilliant characters and some genuinely really nice lads playing for us. It's so nice to be a supporter of Burton Albion with this group of players and staff around the place.
