I've got myself convinced it's only a matter of time before it all clicks, but am I kidding myself in terms of how much we're dominating games? I checked the top 10 and us and it's shocked me a little bit.
Shrewsbury are ahead of us in the table having scored just 12 goals in 14 games in total FFS. (they will drop off as their stats are MUCH worse than any other team)
The stats a) Goals Scored - b) % of Shots on Target per goal - c) total shots on target, d) % of all shots per goal (on and off), e) total number of shots (on and off). I've bolded the highest and lowest %'s in all categories
1) Ipswich a) 24 b) 31.6% c) 76 d) 17.6% e) 136 8) S/land a) 21 b) 41.2% c) 51 d) 17.5% e) 120
2) Wycombe a) 24 b) 35.3% c) 68 d) 14.8% e) 162 9) Blackp a) 18 b) 36.7% c) 49 d) 16.2% e) 111
3) Posh a) 36 b) 40% c) 89 d) 21% e) 169 10) Bristol a) 17 b) 30.9% c) 55 d) 12.2% e) 139
4) Fleetwood a) 26 b) 40.6% c) 64 d) 16.8% e) 156 13) Burton a) 16 b) 29.1% c) 55 d) 12.5% e) 128
5) Oxford a) 32 b) 41% c) 78 d) 19% e) 167
6) Coventry a) 24 b) 32.9% c) 73 d) 15.6% e) 154
7) Donnie a) 22 b) 33.8% c) 65 d) 14.5% e) 152
Aside from Shrewsbury we have the fewest goals AND the worse conversion record of shots on target per goal. Only Bristol have a worse conversion record overall and only Sunderland and Blackpool have had fewer shots on target and fewer overall shots but both have better conversion %'s in both categories.
I had too much time on my hands and I'm sure it's stats damned stats but just thought it was interesting as it shows in my eyes that for all our brilliant build play (and it is brilliant) we're simply not getting enough shots off and it needs to change.
