A lot of smiling faces at a match where we again played really good football with lots of possession in all areas. We ended up in the West stand as we couldn't get tickets for the North stand. (my fault, left it too late) I went to the ground to purchase tickets for friends who offered to take my lad along with them as I was at work (aft shift) Ended up getting myself a ticket and leaving work early. With so many youngsters at the game on quite a mild night under the lights, why didn't the stewards that were on the turnstiles checking tickets give out a token for a 2 for 1 to be used at our next home game? (u17's) My lad stood with quite a few friends that don't normally attend but looked to be really enjoying the atmosphere of the West stand and must have been surprised by our quality of football against a premiership team. Really good to see. COYB 👍🏻

If Brendon Rogers puts a team out to give the opposition a chance , he should be sacked, Burton were missing two key players Akins=Nartey and only one goal in it after 87 minutes was a close call. If you want a fair game, Both clubs should play teams to the value of £450=000 ,this went wrong with the goalkeeper, Ward - Who cost over 7 million and wages would cost more than Burtons whole team. , So for him to select a team costing over 100 million pounds, with more on the bench, We can only play what is in front of us, losing 9=0 to Man City was a learning curve, and has a club we had no complaints, and moved onto the next game. And was over the moon with the respect shown to our club,by a world class team, Leicester have a squad for the season and we do not care who they select. Would you sack every manager who puts out a weakened team? I seem to remember Clough putting out a weakened team against Liverpool in the League cup in our first season in the championship. Love the respect that Pep showed us by putting out a team to give us a proper drubbing and put us in our place. I see many comments on here about the lack of entertainment and why they don't go to matches. There is no entertainment in a 9-0 drubbing for anyone. One regular on here has already admitted to leaving part way through at the Ethiad because he was "Bored/disappointed". How many times have you watched MOTD and seen a club go three or four goals down and seen the fans pouring out of their seats in their hundreds. And what exactly did we learn from a nine nill drubbing?

Managers are not paid to put a team out, that could lose, today we have squads that compete for selection, and resting top players and players injured is not weakening a team, the team is the first team squad. there are many ways a match can be entertaining, most of it is the passion for your team, we have two emotions,HIGH and LOWS Football is not a west end show, but is unpredictable and that is the entertainment. Fans leaving the ground early,or booing there own club is part and parcel of the modern game, and changing managers popular, look down the road. The Burton public not supporting the local team is not news. History a semi final with 3 Premier league clubs. A major cup semi final at the magnificent Ethiad Stadium.watching world class players. watching our players doing something, they could only dream off, even Quinn he thought he had retired, A football programme to treasure. and the joy of watching a baying crowd shouting for 10 goals ,and our lads still competing and having a go. We also see Premier league clubs taking a good beating, we also made some cash to help us compete in league 1 because of our poor gates.and a chance to see some of their top stars at the Pirelli. and losing 1=0,to the cup winners. yes its football and how many years before this match could take place again ,sure i found it entertaining,so many good things to remember

We had exceptional treatment from the club yesterday actually. It was my lad’s 6th birthday, he went up to St George’s for a look around with his mum and his grandad. They got chatting to someone involved with the youth team training that was going on, who asked him who his favourite player was... he said Joe Sbarra... a few minutes later Sbarra, Lucas, Quinny and Nigel have come over to meet him and have photos. They were great with him apparently, chatting about the Blackpool game etc. What a great set of people. Great club — many of us get tetchy about things they do and don’t do at times (I’m 100% guilty of that) but you just can’t say fairer than that. Really wish I could’ve got up to Donnie today, UP THE BREWERS!

Had a similar experience before the Blackpool game in corporate, when Nigel came up to see a guest on the next table but of course (as always) was happy to sign autographs for our boys and pose for photos. I’m sure not many other managers would do that before a big game.

It was yellow wasn't it!!! 😂😂😂 I omitted an unfortunate detail from my post which was that the photos were made a little more ‘unique’ by the fact he was dressed in a Burnley goalkeeping kit which his cheapskate dad had got him... ultimately pricing comes down to supply and demand and it turns out there’s exceptionally little demand for a Burnley goalkeeping kit from a couple of seasons ago! If you spot a kid at a game in a league 2 era Brewers shirt who looks like he wasn’t born when we played in that shirt, say hi to his dad, that’s me!

Watching Leicester playing Palace and the players about 6 or 7 of them that graced the PIrelli in a competitive game . I noticed their central defender, like Nartey he caught my eye, good judge me, he scored and was man of the match. Soyuncu had never heard of him, he is Turkish, Leicester payed £20 million for him but was 4th choice behind Maguire=Morgan =Evans.and came to the reckoning since Maguire left for Man UTd £20 million for a prospect , Nigel hoping for a cup run,for any business to be done in Jan, just to maintain league 1 standards. Cannot believe some people dont think it is a big occasion, when the big clubs come to our neck of the woods. its like being on another planet

Not so much as the feining injury but the indiscipline shown towards officials. Not a word uttered to rugby officials by any player about any decision made, regarding the other well it amazes me how they come off the pitch with all limbs attached sometimes, I know it is more of a contact sport.

Referees in rugby use VAR though Benny and they are happy to talk through the reasons why they have made a decision with the players. All decisions at our level are made in the referee’s own head and there is often no explanation at all. Rugby standards are light years ahead, cricket too, at least for me.

I was comparing Premiership football players attitude/indiscipline (some) to top rugby players discipline, yes that it is light years apart, both now have VAR. The football players need to learn a good deal and change their attitudes when it comes to accepting the refs decisions.

The football players need to learn a good deal and change their attitudes when it comes to accepting the refs decisions. I'm not a rugby fan but watched the final on Saturday. Notice how England lost to a team who played better than us? We didn't blame the ref, any dud decisions, the state of the pitch etc. It made me wonder why I watch football. At Fleetwood, they went up 3-1 and then all seemed to fall over a lot. When Blackpool's defender was sent off, their goalie immediately hurt his leg (just by standing up) which gave them time to get a sub on. And don't get me on the subject of THAT Leeds free kick. I don't blame the players at all; I blame the authorities. Both sets of fans, all 22 players, both managers, all subs and (importantly) all four officials knew there was absolutely nothing wrong with Alnwick. But nothing happens and cheating is condoned by everyone. "It's all part of the game and evens itself out over the season." Urgh. Want to stop swearing at a referee? Deduct ten points - it'd stop within a week. Easy. It makes me f---ing sick. I love my Brewers but I hate football. When Nigel goes, I think I'll leave too.

All of your post is 100% spot on but I bolded the bottom line to say that's exactly where I am. As soon as Nigel retires, I'll stop watching football. At many levels the game is ruined.

For balance towards the end of the RWC final on Saturday SA had a scrum on the far side of the pitch. After the engagement the SA scrum half delayed put in until it collapsed. It was very obvious, he then threw the ball away. A scrum in rugby union takes a minute at least, two or three soft collapses can take up two or three minutes.
It has started in union, the test will be how they respond. They have, to date, been streets ahead.
In football, I would have a running clock, everytime the ball goes dead you would gave 15 seconds to get it back in play, then the clock would be stopped. You would deal with persistent delaying tactics as now (in most cases ignore them!).
As for dissent, yes, I agree, with some persistence, it could be readily resolved.

Football today is more popular than ever, and millions are spent to promote it.and opinions are still very varied, and it is now brought into pubs and clubs and anyone having SKY can watch some top games at home. Today is such a lot better with forums like this one,and information from a club shared daily, and media coverage miles better, than years ago. Dear Broom i think you have a long way to go before Nigel retires. football is who he his. and believe me this club needs him Looking in the media i see -Sunderland=Stoke city=Portsmouth=Middlesborouh =Barnsley= 4 out of 5 big clubs,in a real mess, and crying out for a clear out,and back to basics. and Burton Albion for me are lucky, that they want a run of the mill manager.happy taking the cash on the merry go round, between being a t-v celebrity. Shaking the foundations of a club,is not on many owners wish list, it means they have failed, No-No Head coaches, they are ten a penny, and are on the merry go round. Burton Albion's foundations were set many years ago.,2 clubs mentioned already in league 1===the other 3 could soon follow.
