Had a good result last night against the Posh....coming from 2 v 0 behind to get a point and very nearly took all three....despite their 19th position in the table we'll need to be at our best again to win this match or keep our unbeaten run going....

Just watched all of their highlights and if we are the team I think we are, we should win this one.
They're very poor defensively, not much sticks to their keeper Davies so we should be on our toes for tap ins as well.
They either play a very narrow back four or sometimes switch to a 5, their two centre halfs are both "second" centre backs, I mean they're both ok on their own but neither is the leader and that causes issues. Their number 5 Ray is solid but is also prone to the odd lunge. I'm careful when I say a player is a liability but let's just say their number 6 Monte is someone I'd be trying to target. |He plays left hand of the 3 or left back but often finds himself central and faffing. The number of times he's lost his man and doesn't seem to know where he is in front of his own goal, is really encouraging for us. They are so brittle in their own 18 yard box.
The two wide lads are decent on the ball but no world beaters, I'd say Morris (7 on the right) is the more threatening. Up front their number 9 Mullen is equivalent to our Liam Boyce, he's their hold it up and play off him centre forward and he's got a decent understanding with Stefan Payne who is a unit but looks a bit sluggish.
Their central midfielder Ollie Banks scored a wonder goal midweek and he can be a threat but overall we have the better players and their defenders will switch off at some point and get caught 3 on 1.
Looking at both sets of results against the same teams, we should come out on top here and it's a great chance to stay in and around the play offs. Their only league win has come against Bolton and they're struggling to keep clean sheets.
Their main man is Mullen but I don't see them causing us too many issues.
I think Joe may have played himself in ahead of Sarkic and I'm looking forward to hopefully seeing Bucko and Nartey alongside each other. If Scot Fraser is fit we win this game comfortably. If he's out we win it comfortably.

Tranmere Rovers home ground Prenton Park is a 16-795 all seated stadium in Birkenhead with a average attendance of 7-132,working with a modest squad like ourselves Jackson=Hepburn Murphy=Miller=players to look out for,Their Manager is Micky Mellon from Oct 2016,They were promoted back into the football league in 2018,and won promotion to league 1 in 2019 ver the play offs. This season they have drawn with Rotherham and Peterborough, but currently sit 19th played 8 with 6 points. A good time in their history was reaching the Championship playoffs 3 times under the stewardship of John Aldridge, So i see a side on a high after coming back from 2-0 down on tues. A side happy to play the long ball into the box.they will play it like a cup tie.A banana skin for the brewers, and any complacency will be punished. Again we have the edge, that Clough will be wary, you have to battle for each point in league 1. Tranmere are building a future and will battle. for me a away point will be good.

I can't even begin to describe how gutting that was to watch.

At 1-0 up I was hoping that some possession could be held further up the pitch to ‘manage the game’. Sadly, Tranmere got a smash and grab double and it’s hard to point the finger - it happens sometimes. Terrific following today and very noisy too. Bad luck Brewers, you didn’t deserve that.

I can only imagine that the lack of activity on this thread is due to the fact that everybody is just completely stunned at yesterday's injury time capitulation where, on the back of the Pompey game, we have lost 5 points in two games that were there for the taking.
Didn't go yesterday so can only go on the reports but it did seem a strange move by NC to take off Quinn with seven minutes to go. He is the one player you want on the pitch when we are trying to see out the game. Don't know whether he picked up a knock or the heat was getting to him assuming it was as warm up there as it was down here but then also bringing Jake on a minute or so later just seemed like we were reshuffling at wrong time. Maybe those that were there can enlighten us.
I notice in NC's post match interview he named Nartey and Reece as being responsible for the goals which is a sign he is getting frustrated when he starts publicly name people. As he says we are in danger of becoming a nearly team and certainly our record after 9 games looks decidedly ordinary and by no way matches how we have played in the majority of games. With no league game next week and I guess the Bolton game being under threat should we have international call ups again we could find ourselves having very few league games in the next few weeks and find ourselves well off the pace and heaven forbid in the lower reaches of the table.
Two cup games next at home to hopefully lift spirits as the last two games have been gutting and I can't remember feeling as disappointed about a couple of results for a long time.
Be interesting to hear from those who went.
COYB!!!

Never take your eye off the game, that was my foolish thing to do yesterday. Nothing I could do about it but I went out into the garden yesterday at 89 mins thinking that's all sown up see it out to the end of the game. Missus shouts me, they lost, you can imagine my reaction. Looking very healthy with those 5 points we could have bagged, it ain't so bad now on reflection. Does make you wonder why changes were made, we seemed to be doing ok but hey I can't to profess to be an expert on game management so will leave that to NC and the team.

I wasn't at the game so can't comment on the performance. If it was individual errors from Nartey and Reece then That's what you get from youngsters in L1 I guess. The errors from JJ and bucko on Tuesday shouldn't happen - two experienced players who should know better.
Oh well, we go again. At least this season isn't likely to be boring.

Nigel says it all,not good enough, chances go begging, free kicks given away too easily, people not doing their jobs, Quinn went off injured. Buxton=Hutchinson= brought on to protect any long ball barrage, that failed, O"Hara seemed easily beaten for the 1st goal . Nartey gave a cheap free kick away again, and will know whats coming, Hutcinson was naive letting Morris cross with his predominant left foot.back to reality ,only goal average separates us from top 12 and for the size of our club this is very good, tomorrow is another day. being beaten by a club double our size is so disappointing. We should have been better and losing was not a option. but we did ,still seems raw, We know how Bristol Rovers fans felt now.funny old game,

Hugely frustrating.
I looked at the BBC live Divison 1 table with about 5 minutes to go and we were sitting in the playoffs. 10 mins later we were midway, so annoying.
I see Nigel has blamed (not the right word maybe questioned?) the two youngsters for the goals; no problem with that. He’s right to. We did play much of the game without Brayford, Bucko and O’Toole and I think in the current squad we need all 3 in there; leading, fighting, making the right decisions.
We could do with another league game quickly to pick up a bit of momentum. 3 very good consecutive draws which could so easily and should have been wins.

From the highlights, I would imagine that O'Hara may be a little disappointed.

We were poor yesterday, It was very windy and we usually try to keep it short and play it on the floor so why did we constantly boot it long. Don't think O'Hara took a short goal kick at all. Sbarra missed a great chance in the first half which we needed to go in. Nartey's foul was after Bucko was bumped out the way.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=_qgueT1aj_oIt's all academic of course, but if you look at this You-Tube video (if you can bear to) It's tagged "Prenton Perspective | Burton Albion - Alternative angles" I've got to say I think NC's a bit harsh in blaming Nartey for giving away a silly free kick and Hutchinson for not stopping the cross rupturefarms description of Bucko being bumped off the ball is there to see.....and it doesn't seem to my eye Nartey did much wrong (the ref looks like he might have been conned??) while Hutchinson at least got near when attempting to stop the cross......and the fella, who from a different angle and at full speed, appears to head it back across the box for the second goal (Broadhead won't be happy) ...... well (my eyes aren't what they used to be I'll admit) but in the slow motion replay, while nodding his head with conviction towards the incoming ball, it seems it could well have come off his arm (either in place of his head or as well as)....what do you think? It's all academic like I said...what doesn't kill you makes you stronger and as NC says, if (not a big if but nonetheless it's an if) we'd got the 5 points from Tranmere and Portsmouth, along with the single points from Rotherham and Ipswich which we deserved, we'd be up there with the top 3 or 4 on 19 points. That gives me hope.... Keep the Faith....we're only a fifth of the way into the season....
