Brilliant performance ruined by the ref. I think he's given it against Bucko.
Nartey was incredible, especially considering it was only his second ever start. Joe is very unlucky to have to be sacrificed.
We're in good shape, looking at the players we haf out that's still a very good point. If JJ hadn't have been sent off they'd have got nowhere near us.
Well done lads, if we can get 3 points on Saturday it will be a great start to the season.

Wow. That's a blatant penalty if I ever saw one! Cheers Craig for upholding the stellar standard of refereeing in league one.

Watched on ifollow tonight. Well done Joe for your first league goal for the club - shame your night was cut short. JJ - you should know better. Backs to the wall as expected and we stood firm. Showed what a great team spirit and resolve Nigel has created. Shame bucko gave the ref an opportunity to give a soft one.
How many games now since we last lost?

Watching that he can't wait to give a penalty - as Nigel said you should be seeing 6 penalties a game if that's one. Now compare that to the one we didn't get against Rotherham on Scotty Fraser.

I've got to say that's as gutted as I've felt immediately after a game as I have for a long time. I was following it on the internet and Sky Sports for most of the evening and had spent an hour or so just waiting and expecting to hear that they had scored but it never came until injury time in injury time. Equally disappointing when your son has just said he thinks the game has finished only for you to look at the TV and see Pompey lining up a penalty which was then shown live. I'm afraid it lead to me throwing things around my living room and swearing in front of my children so I let myself down a bit to be honest but you will know how I felt!
In terms of the penalty itself I have watched it a couple of times now and still think it was very, very harsh. What I don't understand is that the ref surely should be aware that in the 96th minute when they are desperate that they are going to take every opportunity to go down and try and buy a penalty so he has to be 100% sure that a foul worthy of a penalty at that time of the game is warranted. Surely you have to give yourself a couple of seconds thinking time before pointing to the spot whilst he didn't and gave the impression of somebody who was desperate himself to try and give the home team a lifeline. Yes, Jake did make contact with their player but not enough for him to fall down and the ball had gone as well and was about to be cleared in a crowded box. No penalty for me and I am trying my best to be objective.
Anyway, what's done is done and as NC says it should not detract from what was a great performance and again shows that we can mix it with the big boys of this division but we have to start to string some wins together consecutively if we are to get ourselves in the top six and above which is where our performances, in my opinion, warrant us being. What would compound the disappointment is if we did not follow up the last couple of games by beating Tranmere on Saturday which is now a really important game given we don't play again for two weeks in the league after that.

I’ve waited until now to post about last night hoping to have calmed down enough to give a better post. Unfortunately I still haven’t calmed down. An absolutely brilliant defensive display from us after having jj sent off completely spoiled by yet another incompetent buffoon of a referee. To rub salt in the wounds the same bloke who did us over last season. The worst thing was you could see ( and this is a truthful statement) he was just waiting to offer them a lifeline. Ellis Harrison didn’t even make it look good. Unfortunately things like this happen we should all be used to it by now. Earlier in the post I did say it was completely spoiled by that decision but it wasn’t really because it still was a brilliant display and a brilliant performance. Every single one of our players were heroes last night . As I said a few weeks ago I have a very good feeling about this season. Saturday cannot come soon enough.

Got to game 15 minutes late having been held up in traffic and having to park a long way from ground. Heard 2 cheers when approaching and from the chanting knew at least the second was an Albion goal - was amazed to find as got in we were 2 up. Hadn't realised O'Toole had already been booked when he got his second so didn't take much notice and didn't see him go off. Only when Sbarra was taken off that I noticed we only had 9 outfield players which came down to 8 when Daniel had to go off for a few minutes to have head wound bandaged.
Although Pompey attacked constantly Albion defended supwrbly.O'Hara made some superb saves and looks better every time I see him. In my view far better than Collins and seems that the defence have more confidence in him. Quinn was everywhere putting in tackles and Daniel had the best game I have seen him play, Wave after wave of largely ineffectual Pompey attacking in last half hour and I just could not see them scoring. Penalty from behind the Albion goal looked nothing, everyone was jostling in the box and the man just went down. The ref really was conned, it was a final attempt by Pompey to get something from the game and he should have been alert to it.
Walking away from ground I heard some Pompey fans talking about how well "the big bloke Burton had up front held the ball up and brought others in to play". I told them he was Lucas Akins and doesn't usually play centre forward but on the wing but has played in every position for us except goalkeeper. They told me how much a lot of their fans admire Nigel Clough and want to see him replace Kenny Jackett. Let's hope Pompey have a decent season, but not as good as ours, so he stays in his job!

What a great result and a credit to the team Akins= Quinn= O"Hara 10 out of ten the rest 9 ,and a big well done to our supporters who i could hear on ifollow. Funny how only big clubs seem to get big decisions go their way , suppose this is what makes them favourites. But no one can take away the performance by the Brewers. it was how to play with 10 men,and only con seed 1 goal in 70 minutes in a hostile atmosphere with no ref. O"Hara was a credit to his profession and it took a penalty to beat him..This being our 3rd season in league 1, i think we can be proud we have proved this league is our platform. Nigel has every right to be proud of his players.this is a good day at the office. By the way really impressed with Nartey

Just watched the highlights
O'Hara should have held the ball and stopped their first goal
Cracking save from him in second half though
The penalty I can see why it's given, it may be harsh but that's a clumsy challenge and asking for trouble IMO

May I proffer some positives:
- You'd have taken a point and a brilliant team performance before the game. - Playing against 10 men for 65 minutes and only 2-1 up at half time - you'd probably expect to lose. - Ditto the above, I bet Portsmouth are really disappointed to have only got a point. - The effort, the quality, the team spirit and the togetherness show that the squad this season is very good. - We are really tough to beat and that is a very good attribute in the game of football. - We will get some daylight robbery results in our favour this season and some vital decisions will incorrectly go our way.

Miracles just keep coming, once more The Brewers show a 100% effort and a team spirit with no I in team .Nigel Clough plays every ball with the team, and why not he was one of them. Once more Burton Albion play well in a game, and Once more, the big clubs this one only 7 times bigger than the Brewers, fans go into a meltdown, and once more the Manager is under pressure, and the owners under pressure to sack him ,Beating Burton Albion when at home,is a no brainier, and now it seems failure to beat 9 men and 10 men in two home games leaves a sour taste for fans who demand their loyalty be rewarded with Championship football, and keep away from small league 1 grounds Forest=Derby=Leeds=W_B_A=Stoke,should be the norm , Drawing 10 man Burton and Played 6 with a total of 6 points against clubs not fit to be in the same league yes meltdown.
