Enjoyed the game on iFollow; the commentary is not for me. It could easily have gone the other way. Don’t feel we’ve got that passing and possession in midfield yet that was so successful last season. We were split wide open down the right side for their two goals. Do feel we miss Fadz there but heh ho…………… Have to say we stuck at it, kept trying to go forward and take the game to them. It was a decent game to watch certainly. Bucko’s goal was a pure gem. Come on nobodygood you must be a fan by now? I’m amazed Scotty Fraser hasn’t been snapped up. Brilliant goals and a mazy side stepping run in midfield that’s worth a watch if you can find it anywhere online.
Boyce (and others) ran his socks off.
A really good team performance. Haha... I'm not sure if you actually read any of my posts. I've been singing his praises for ages now (even in this thread), since January last year at the very least. But you seem to only recall my posts from Championship/early league one where he was, even by his own admission, poor.

Wow what a great result, even coming away with a draw most of us were crossing our fingers. Nigel said we needed away points i thought it was a very positive statement. That could end up with us , still needing away points. Last night. It was brilliant to watch on ifollow I jumped off my seat half a dozen times, I got very excited at first when i saw all the yellow and black behind the goal, Silly me, Oxford are yellow n black. So £10 spent on ifollow and hears me far happier than my Derby mates who watched for free on the red button . I thought it outstanding how we came back from going 2=1 down, the positives from our squad stood out for all to see. While mentioning players of note, last night,we saw our motto ==NO I IN TEAM=, but a player who scores a hat trick can stand out in a memorable match,Scottie Fraser. For me if we can keep him this season,he could add to the list of players Clough has introduced to the International arena.

Was at the game last night having decided late to travel up to Oxford - so glad I did! A goal for Buxton to treasure. His movement from the corner was excellent and a superb diving header. Wallace looked like he's always played at centre half. One of Clough's great strengths is how he keeps successfully adapting players from their established roles to new ones.
Both their goals came when we were over committed going forward. That though was because we were cutting through Oxford time and time again. They just could not deal with the speed of our attacks which encouraged the team to keep attacking. An impartial watcher would have thought we were the home team. The consensus on the Oxford fans' forum before the game was for an easy home win. Afterwards it was that the Brewers were faster, fitter, better organised and incredibly given what was said on this thread before the game, outfought and outmuscled their team. All agreed Albion thoroughly deserved the win.
Walking past the team bus on the way back to my car I saw Nathan Broadhead stood with his parents who had been sat just in front of me. A really pleasant level-headed young man to talk to. Was at the Gillingham game where his performance was a revelation. So wish that free kick could have dipped under the bar and given him a debut hat trick. Not quite as good last night where his inexperience showed at times but we have a real jewel here. It is a tribute to Nigel that Everton have seen fit to entrust Nathan to him to polish. I think we will see really good things from him this season.

I don't think there was a nasty or narky challenge in the game, outside of the Edwards,/Brannagan clash which looked a bit schoolboy to be fair. Was really surprised and pleasantly so at how much Oxford tried to get it down and play as well and I think they'll cause a lot of teams problems with their pace going forward. Just goes to show a) I'm not as clever as I think and b) I should know better than to trust my Sunderland supporting mates with anything other than where to get a decent sunbed session ;-) Sorry Oxford fans and sorry Karl Robinson.

I grew up watching Oxford Utd so I look upon them fondly; the Manor Ground was a proper stadium in amongst housing. Sad it’s still a 3-sided nothing setup there now after probably 20 years but think they’ll come again eventually. Remember being there (Manor) when relegated from what’s now the Championship, needed to win by 5 goals on last day of season to stand any chance and did but the other club (may have been QPR from memory) drew and stayed up. Might even have been Bury that last day of the season. Since then went down twice more, into National League, now alongside us in L1 after a differing journey. Brewers through and through these days but they’re not all bad down there albeit I very much prefer living in the Midlands as simply put the people are nicer!

A good unbiased account of the game and some great points about us and the quality of our play. We do have some excellent players and losing Brad Collins, Fadz, Jamie and Marcus doesn’t seem to have held us back at all.

Agree we do have some good players but out of the above I still think we miss Fadz all day long, Must be one of the best CB in this league! If we could have kept him then maybe......

I remember Nigel using the words when we signed him “We think he’s the best in League 1” Craig. Problem for us was Fadz wanted to play for Cov.

He says we are the best team they've played this season. That's very encouraging.
