I'm sure in the past when Nigel has signed someone the day before a game he has tended to start them on the bench .One other thing was Broadhead signed this morning , as I was told if it was this afternoon he will not be eligible for tomorrow's game .Over to you CBH .I'm sure you will know .

The rule is that to play on Saturday you have be registered by 12 noon on the day before. I’m on holiday right now but my guess is that he would have come in first thing to sign all the paperwork, go off and trained with the lads, then done media stuff after training. That’s just my guess though as I think that is often how it works at BAFC.

The day was all planned out... take the boy to SSC to meet Britty + boy, smash a pint or two watching the Ashes, then go to the game... then the missus somehow wangled me a free ticket for Edgbaston... boy distraught, got home from work and he’s in his BAFC kit to compound the guilt... Rotherham’s your time son, keep smiling! And COYB!

Maybe now: O’Hara Brayford O’Toole Buxton Daniel Quinn Fraser Edwards Akins Boyce Broadhead Subs: Wallace Sarkic Nartey Sbarra Hutchinson Anderson Bywater And suddenly 2 signings later, how much stronger we look on paper. Man alive, I don't know what I was sweating about. He does it summer in summer out. If the two front lads are anyway near as good as their potential and pedigree suggests we've got ourselves a couple of really exciting prospects. Great to see us now having a real blend of experience and youthful enthusiasm as well. Mouth watering. Play the way we played last season and play with the pace and passion that comes with youth and I really don't care where we finish. We're in for some belting entertainment. **** edited just to give myself a bit of "whoa there" - I still think we need and will get a bit of pace who can cover the back four. I'd fall of my chair if we could somehow persuade someone like Kieron Freeman to help us out for a season. Chrissy Wilder must owe Nige a favour or two for leaving him with Basham, Che Adams and one or two others.

I have a firm policy on Smith, Warner and Bancroft. It is a bit like ex players coming back to BAFC in reverse. For ex BAFC players, be nice to them pre game, give them pelters during the game and then, depending on the result and their attitude, be nice to them after the game. As for Smith at al and the cricketers, I would have given them what for throughout the game, but absolutely would have given Smith a standing ovation for his outstanding century... ...whilst booing...

I've got a feeling Nartey may start the season on the bench from listening to NC's interview today. Sounds like he's close but we may not risk it. Would that see a pairing or Jake and JJOT giving us experienced heads to get through the first game? If that's the case will it be Joe Sbarra who come into the forward line and a real 4-3-3 or do we go solid and bring Wallace in and go 4-5-1. We really do need another one or two attacking options in before the window closes. We'll get them. So he went with Wallace in the end? How did he play? Was it a stop gap and did that force Fraser out wide? Was Lucas up top alongside Boycey? Obviously with Quinny getting sent off I'd expect Nartey to slot into the back four with JJOT moving one forward. We need a wide playe of sorts until Temps is fit, playing Scotty out wide isn't sensible long term. I'd prefer to see Joe Sbarra out there. We've maybe got a central midfielder too many now which may give more weight to the fact were considering the Fraser interest. I don't want him to go but he's definitely our most saleable asset and if it meant getting a decent winger in I'd reluctantly take that and wish Scotty all the best. I'd hope IF he goes it's to a championship side, would be gutting to lose another of our top boys to a league one rival and Scott is good enough to step up. Does it mean another nervous ish end to the transfer window. Bloody hell I wish we were a club who had a few quid to keep hold of our talent.

Yes Craig, Wallace played and I felt played well till substituted to get Broadhead on in the 2nd half for his Football League debut down the left with Quinn then holding. Personally it’s looks to me like Broadhead will be a regular down the left. With Templeton on the bench.

He was ok, I thought 1st half Quinn Wallace and Edwards struggled a bit to find a good rythm between them. Improved 2nd half though. Fraser out wide is not the answer I agree - if he goes I will be gutted. I think Quinn and Fraser in the middle are the heartbeat of our team. I do wonder what Joe has to do to get a chance in the team - i don't think Clough fancies him and will insist on playing some players more out of position then give Joe a chance. It's a long season and a small squad so sure at some point he will get some minutes - thought yesterday was the ideal opportunity personally.

It's a long season and a small squad so sure at some point he will get some minutes - thought yesterday was the ideal opportunity personally. I watched Joe's interview after the Solihull game and thought it was a brilliant and honest self assessment. He admitted he hadn't pushed on and struggled to recapture his form when he came back from injury. He's onto the last year of his contract and he said himself unless he improves he wont get another deal. He's ready to knuckle down and that will go down well with Nigel. He'll get his chance and he has to take it and make sure Nige can't leave him out. I thought he might have got a spot yesterday but again Nigel likes to get his strongest 11 out and will shuffle the positions to for them in. Joe is probably 15tg or maybe even 16th on that list as things stand. He's got to get onto the 14 first and then push to start. I hope he cracks it. I like him but he's stood still. Admittedly it's tough to prove himself when he's not getting minutes.

I also thought Wallace had a decent game Broomo. I also agree Fraser is a better player when playing down the centre. I’ve got to be honest I was disappointed with Lucas Akins yesterday. Hey I’m a Burton Albion supporter of course I love Lucas Akins but I thought yesterday he looked off the pace. Also missed our best chance and quite rightly got substituted. I know though Lucas will be back next week all guns blazing. I feel we did lack a bit of width at times and would like to see a pacy winger come in. If Nathan Broadhead is to be used more out wide time will tell but after seeing us yesterday I know we’ll be just fine.

I noticed that Bolton signed three players on Saturday morning and played them in the afternoon . As CBH1 pointed out players had to be signed by 12.00 hrs on Friday, have they got special treatment due to their problems ?

As CBH1 pointed out players had to be signed by 12.00 hrs on Friday, have they got special treatment due to their problems ? The competition has lost all integrity. From the Bolton News. "Five senior players did travel to Wycombe – Remi Matthews, Jason Lowe, Erhun Oztumer and Luke Murphy anchoring a side that also included three signings sanctioned on the morning of the game: Harry Brockbank, Josh Earl and James Weir."

As CBH1 pointed out players had to be signed by 12.00 hrs on Friday, have they got special treatment due to their problems ? Not totally up to speed with what happened with the three signings but my understanding is that, technically, as the club is in administration then there is a transfer embargo. If the club's administrators are able to show that the player can be afforded from the funds set aside to run the administration then the league can give their approval. What we don't know is when Bolton submitted the registration documents for the players in question. As long as they submitted all of the required documentation prior to the 12 noon deadline then it is up to the League when they approve them. It is, in some ways, similar to the end of the transfer window where clubs often submit the paperwork before the 11pm deadline but the league do not confirm acceptance until after this time. Given that Bolton travelled to Wycombe on Friday afternoon my guess would be that all of the paperwork was submitted prior to the deadline pending League approval.
