Don't suppose anyone went today? Just read Clough's comments post match. Sounds very similar to a lot of our games last season! Interesting comment re: the Leeds trialist "in addition to the others we are working on". I would really like to see another striker come in to give us another option off the bench. Not sure if the chap from Leeds will be the answer but hopefully one of the new faces will be someone who can play up top.

I went today as I live only minutes away from Chesterfield. There was some really good stuff with attacking options being created by slick, quick passing and movement. I liked the way O'Hara constantly looked for quick distribution to the back four with creation from there. Jake looked a different player from Matlock two weeks ago, Boyce looked a lot sharper and Wallace, Quinn and Fraser looked impressive in the middle and towards the front. Daniel's overlapping was also impressive. Their goals and chances are a bit of a worry and the lack of our back four height was evident at times. Sarkic looked woefully unmatch fit. I notice he is not a prolific goalscorer but he could add something. Chesterfield are a good National League side who I would think are promotion favourites.
Hope that helps. Good overall, but another defender and striker needed for me. Some of our attack play was a sheer delight to watch.

Sorry, forgot to mention Ryan Edwards. Full of running and looks a real addition to our team. O'Toole did well at the back.

Again running blind, thank you Derbyshire live for a update so a valuation of performances is difficult ,with main holiday time here many people cannot attend friendly games,I am very disappointed with the brewers official site no commentary, and the E_F_L useless. With no commentary it leads you to dodgy live streaming sites, they seem to have coverage. only 145 made it to chesterfield . With their own t-v stations the big clubs just have it all, If i cant attend a game i am willing to pay, guess their is not enough of us, My Derby and Forest mates live in a different world. Me i support one of the smallest clubs in the football league where our fans miss friendly games, while away clubs bring their own t-v station so people on holiday dont miss the match, the only good news for a Burton supporter we get to watch the highlights after. Still looking for the Chesterfield highlights.

Well on sat we visited Chesterfield a National league club in their 10-500 all seated stadium 145 brewers made the journey. With O"Hara in goal no comment from me on the goals, the woodwork around our goal was tested,so it could have been good judgement. according to Clough we left the back door open to often, certainly we need pace at the back to stop the counter attack. Midfield worked well with Edwards having a good debut, and our forward line up, was a threat.overall a constructive work out. 5-2 was a good result and preseason gave us two good wins 2 draws, and a loss to Derby i could comment on that result but will let it ride. One more run out for a few.and the real Action starts on sat 3rd Aug ,with 2 clubs having a 12 point deduction a lot of clubs will relax and this could come back to bite them. Hoping for two quality signing 1 defender==1 forward =no departures and we are ready to go. Jan will be when we can adjust our squad to our needs, Hoping it will be a top 6 push, but being a league 1 club still feels good

I think Nartey will make a difference at the back Trev and will give us some pace in the back line. It looks like Nigel will also bring in a pacey young loan player to cover at right back and a forward to compete with Boyce and Akins. You didn’t mention Sarkic of Leeds perhaps joining us too, it’s taking shape nicely. I just hope we don’t lose Boycey at the 11th hour.

Thanks for the reports. It’s coming together earlier than previous seasons but I think we all have to accept that every summer, at our club, is going to see departures and comings and goings into the first few weeks. Shame but it’s the way it is.
Agree with other comments re strengthening.
I’d like another attacking option. We do need cover in a couple of areas and I’m not sure what my first choice back four would be yet. Work in progress but hopefully 2/3 to come in sooner than later.

He's certainly looking for another forward, looking at the report he's not too impressed with the trialist's fitness (from Leeds) he may pass on him? I'm also worried about our leaky defence, yep it's only preseason matches but something you don't want to see/read about. Maybe it will all come good next Sat and thats what they have been saving themselves for.😁
