2-1
Burton,Brayford and Harness Sheffield, Billy Sharpe
Good win against a premier league team.
I have a feeling Harness is going to have his best season yet for us, probably at a mid-high championship midfielder standard.

They probably had a friendly against Dronfield or Stocksbridge Park Steels.

Don't agree I thought United could have been out of sight in the first half. Post and bar and bad finishing. Second half top they had lots of chances but woeful finishing and great defending. Great goal to win it. No injuries and a few fresh faces with a run out. The Inverness and Stoke fan I took enjoyed it. Id say all in all a good night.

Good workout against strong opposition where for large parts it was a backs to the wall job. Nice to get the winner at the end with all the young lads on and Marcus's goal was an absolute stunner and even drew applause from the away end.
The new keeper and centre back looked decent in what was a difficult game where for me the only disappointments were Boyce and Akins who had very sluggish games by their high standards.
No sign of Quinn or O'Toole who were both sat behind the dugout. As I've said before Quinn is a key player for us and when he is in the team he will make life easier for his team mates and we will look a much better side than without him.
Ben Fox was still on crutches and I saw a few people asking him how he was and to be honest there seemed to be some glum faces so I have a feeling he is out for a bit. Real shame as I think this was to be a real breakthrough season for him and he would have got lots of games this year. Hopefully I misjudged the body language!
Good win and onto Saturday against that team we always beat at home!

Watched the game last night. Sheff Utd put out what seemed a full strength Prem side. We looked weak on paper; no Collins, no Fadz, no Allen plus Quinn and Fox out injured.
They started really brightly moving the ball sharply all across the park and it was no surprise they went ahead. Sharp and McGoldrick looked a real handful up front. Somehow we clawed our way into the game and although Sheff Utd were clearly the better side, we got the result and for a friendly it wasn’t a bad game.
Not sure you can deduce much from the game. Not sure it helps our cause playing a full strength Prem side. 1900 there mainly from Sheffield.
Keeper distributed the ball well. Bucko and Wallace defended for their lives with endless blocks and challenges. Bucko was on his last legs when he went off before the end. Harness looked sharp. Hope Templeton can get a good injury free run he can be such a good footballer. We still need to find a way of playing around Boycey. Not a lot else; work in progress, can’t argue with the result.

Sheff utd dont take defeat well nowadays, and turned out a strong side, which puta lot of very talented players on the pitch, and the fans that went saw once more some top Talent grace the Piryellowelli Stadium. You get a good work out chasing shadows, and it appears some of our signings had a good work out and gave us hope for a good season.A loss would have been expected, a win well are we building the yellow brick wall, all in all a good workout. i could not get to the match,no coverage on ifollow or any official club site,Bet 365 screening it live if i wanted to become a gambler. Google helped picked me a highlights thread on Derbyshire live.

Boyce needs to learn how to play within the team pattern, not the other way round as you suggest. When he was missing on international duty last season I believe we never lost a game.

I have a feeling Harness is going to have his best season yet for us, probably at a mid-high championship midfielder standard. I'm well aware that on occasions I cross the line between self praise and coming across like a total know it all bell end. I'm only sometimes sorry for being like that ;-) Of course you're spot on NiG. Said it weeks ago, Marcus could be our secret (not for long) weapon this season, A real stand out in League One. He really has got everything needed to make it and with a good wind behind him may even play in the Premier League. All he needs is self belief and to keep learning at the rate he is now. I think either observer or inside left said months ago he could be money in the bank. He is. He's got the lot, pace, a bit of trickery a key for a pass and now if he can add goals a million is suddenly a snip. This tweeterer from Blades Analytics is interesting... "Asked a very knowledgeable Blades brain at the game tonight to keep an eye on @marcusharness for me. I'm so impressed by him, such an excellent technical player. For a middling Burton side he's their creative fulcrum. BA Analytics @blades_analytic Compare him to all wingers or wide fwds in L1 last season and he comes out 4th for key passes, 4th for xA, 11th for successful crosses, Top 15 for both passes into penalty area completed & Successful dribbles. A winger with a ability to do it all as tonight's worldie goal proved! 12 9:39 PM - Jul 16, 2019 "

Piryellowelli, I tried to get my tongue round that one, it doesn't work Trev.🤔 Sorry some times when i am typing the letters jump onto a different line and i have to delete them, some times i write two paragraphs and the lot just disappears. I try to check my posts, but in this case,i got a ear bashing for not being ready to take her who must be obeyed out, with a screaming of put that ------ thing away. So yellow jumped into Pirelli. With the loud noise i was disoriented and feel distressed passing it onto you bennyboy, it was not your tongue, but me in panic mode

It's evident we still need signings. A centre back to replace mcfadz and a striker to go with Boyce.

It's evident we still need signings. A centre back to replace mcfadz and a striker to go with Boyce. I think you'll find that Nartey is the replacement for Fadz and that him and Bucko will be first choice with the likes of Wallace, O'Toole, Brayford, Anderson and Daniel all as potentials to cover in the event of loss of form or injury. Where we do need cover now Fox is injured is right back as there is only Brayford as a natural in that position and NC has said he doesn't want Lucas playing back there. I think the loan we are looking at hopefully this week will be a forward by all accounts although again assuming we play a front three then it will be Boyce, Akins and Harness as first choice with Templeton covering on the flanks. Of course Sordell is still signed on for another year but with no sign of him at training or the matches I wonder whether we are trying to come to some sort of settlement with him. Maybe best all round I think. Interesting that on his twitter account profile it makes no mention of him being a professional footballer.
