It is entirely consistent with our approach over the last 20 years or so. We ain't done bad.

This is ok
Jamie Allen was a good player. He did well for us .weve got some money for him
Now it’s time for Ben fox or joe sbarra to step up.
The production line continues

Having watched him progress and settle into the team last season I'm slightly dissapointed. Having said that he's going into his last contract year and we've let better players go. We also sold them Fadz so we're making one of our what could potentially be a main rival a stronger side? He definitely had his best season last year hence why he's gone! COYB

I'm just plain disappointed to discover this....I thought he was an important member of our midfield last season, alongside Quinny and Fraser...definitely his best season....often ran himself ragged for the cause....just got on with it....the sort you want in your team.....perhaps on the small side but filled out a bit last season and stuck to his man to win the ball back......oh well....not much you can do when big(ger) money comes a'callin and the player sees an opportunity to advance his career......in Nigel we trust....
Anyone capable of offering informed speculation as to the fee Cov paid us to get him....?

Disappointed with this one and he would have been quite far down my list of those likely to leave us. On the flip side if you asked me if we had to lose one of quin Fraser or Allen I would say Allen all day long.
Recouping some money and losing a championship salary legacy is not a bad thing.

He's alright. But not part of the spine.
Undisclosed fee.
Hopefully one in to replace.
Move probably motivated by money, I guess.

Great little player, always impressed by him. I hope he enjoys the money before they go bust again.

I have a slightly different opinion on this to some where I don't think it makes a huge difference to us overall. Don't get me wrong I would have preferred to keep him as the midfield three were pivotal in last seasons performance but he was by far and way the weakest of those three and was made to look better by Quinn and Fraser.
League One is this lads level as he had little impact in the Championship and Ben Fox or Joe Sbarra could easily fill his position and in time maybe be an improvement. There is no need for a meltdown on this one where it is part and parcel of football these days where players going into the last year of their contract regularly move on and if we've got some cash and a high earner off the books then that's fine by me.
Nigel has a good recruitment record and this may allow him to wheel and deal again and bring some fresh blood into the squad and hopefully keep us moving upwards.

Definitely reached his level at L1 having his best season, but yes Fox has the potential to step in. COYB 👍🏻

Dissappointing and as a fan, frustrating. The strength last season was the footballing midfield of Quinn, Fraser and Allen, the partnership of Bucko and Fadz plus a promising keeper in Collins.
It looked like we’d go into pre-season with a settled squad this season with time to add to.All 3 areas have now changed.
I guess it's the way it is.
Cloughie doesn’t have an easy job.Increasingly I hope all our fan base can appreciate that.

I’m certainly in the annable camp with this one. Not a bad player but I thought at times last season we were a little lightweight in midfield. Obviously we’ll have to see how Jon Joe fits in but I expect a little more steel from him and hopefully he’ll improve us in both penalty area’s. Certainly no panic from me whatsoever. As others have said another championship signing off our books and we move on.

Fee interesting how much did we claw back, shocked he has gone, player lost again to another league 1 club.but a few posters have hit the nail on the head. And put it in perspective. We probably have players to replace him. The lad from scotland taking his time though. Not impressed that we are looking for a goalkeeper to support Bywater.i would like a no 1 goalkeeper to give the defence a chance

I hope that people have time to read this whole thread: We are a financial miracle in the modern football world. Not surprising that we have to sell a player when we get the chance.

Apparently we are looking at Paul Coutts of Sheff Utd......could sacrificing Jamie be part of the plan to free up wages?

I hope that people have time to read this whole thread: Deserves its own thread does that Ian. Great presentation of the facts that most brewers fans appreciated. To come within 5 minutes of staying up that season is truly remarkable.
