Wow, that's a real surprise and a kick in the nuts at the same time. I really thought he was staying. Also interesting to see we've not signed Alex Bradley. They've obviously got decent hopes for one of the 3 academy lads, or we're signing a midfielder who is better than Alex and that would squeeze him out. I hope we get the keeper issues sorted quickly, also interesting to see we're going for youth again. I hope whoever comes in is more Brad Collins than he is Connor Ripley. ***Tiny edit to say it's also a little bi exciting to read our 2 targets are from Premier League clubs, the quality of keeper at that level, even for the kids is head and shoulders above most league one and league two "stalwarts". You only need to look at the teams promoted to the Premier League in Sheff Utd and Aston Villa. Both clubs with loanee keepers between the sticks. Brad Collins as well showed that the third, fourth and even sometimes fifth choice at the top clubs will be at least as good as anything we could sign on a permanent. Come on Nige, work your magic and get us a good 'un

For me it's not a huge shock as he will have likely had offers elsewhere, but he could have done a lot worse than put himself in the shop window for bigger and better things with us. Disappointing but we move on and get someone else in who could prove to be just as good.

Shame but keepers of that quality are not hard to come by so not that disappointed.
Pleased to hear the comments about our own youngsters rather than bradley. Hopefully Joe may get more of a chance this year?

What have we got to lose? Games 😁 He's a good back up keeper. Looking forward to seeing who we bring in. Could be one of Villa's reserve keepers, they have a couple.

I'm perfectly fine with Steve as first choice going into the new season, if only he could keep the ball on the pitch a little more. Gets his hair cut and folk stop shouting 'steeeeeeeeve' at every opportunity. Cringey fecks

Collins and Macfadzene another 2 not taking new contracts, thats 7 in 2 seasons,it makes me sad Nigel cannot build a team, but keeps ticking over on a shoe string with players having to choose us,and not us the players. This of course brings a reaction when the few boo and moan when we have a bad run. For me Collins is a Blow. Bywater says all the right things, but having him as no1 is a joke if aiming for a top 10 finish. Alex Bradley having to give way for our own youth ,i can live with , but Bywater for me is backup and has a role has goalkeeping coach.which means we are carrying two coaches,

4 year contract with the option of a fifth,no way we could compete with that. How much Championship football will he get? their current keeper played 42 games last season.

He’s a good GK no doubt. They are investing heavy for a bench sitter, must have outbid Burton by a great deal. I hope it is worth it for their club.

Barnsley's current keeper, Adam Davies, who played 42 games last season may not be their keeper much longer. Reportedly very close to signing for Stoke City so Brad could well have been signed as a replacement to go straight into the first team at Oakwell.

We watch good players move to bigger clubs, that's the life of a brewer, the only thing we can do is thank them and wish them luck. Clough has to live with this, Fans have to live with this==WE MOVE ON

Yet another player leaves us for money we can’t afford ……to go to a club that very likely also can’t afford it. How long before we read Bolton, Bury, Barnsley………..who knows.
That has to be nearly a million pound contract in the Championship?
Was he that good a keeper? Promising, yes. Limited experience, limited proven ability. He made some early mistakes with us but settled in well behind what was a pretty secure defence.
Plenty more fish in the sea. There will be many a Tomlinson, Legzdins, MacLaughlin, Krysiak for now’t out there……………………………hopefully.

Davies, the goalkeeper is out of contract so is signing for Stoke on a free transfer. Amazed in a way that he has been allowed to go on a free but it may be that he refused terms and wanted to run his contract down in order to get a more lucrative move. Barnsley are pretty shrewd operators in the transfer market. Seem to have a policy these days of bringing in good young lower league players, developing them and then selling them on for decent money. Don't think the value of Brad's contract will be beyond them.

Looks like Brad could be second choice??
Barnsley have just signed Samuel Radlinger from Hannover as a replacement for Davies.
