Wow that was a shock to some Sunderland remaining in league 1, Sometimes i get bitter,18 million pound wage bill,3 million on Will grigg, and still in league 1.
being positive all the clubs that fill our away end are welcome in our league. Bitter because i see players being bought for 3 to 15 million in league 1 or the championship and it makes me think if Nigel bought 6 players for 1 million each.We compete now on a shoestring with kids and old heads that will play on the cheap.
So i feel no sympathy for fallen giants.but only pride in what we achieve.
I think you're being realistic and honest. Some folk just don't like that. Straight talking isn't always liked.
I'm like you. I wonder a lot.
I wonder how he'd do at a club with a heavy war chest AND a decent owner. So far he's never been at a club with both. I think he'd do a great job but he'd probably end up getting fired for not signing players with fancy enough names, 'cos he'd try to build a squad full of hungry young British based players, he'd get bombed out. He sometimes treats the money like it's his own, so he looks after it.
He's either had the brilliant owner, or he's had no money, or he's had the dodgy owner.
Don't get me wrong. I'm delighted and love the fact he's here and he's ours but he's certainly a better manager than league one level and I scratch my head when I see some of the managers getting opportunities at bigger clubs having achieved far less than he has.
I've got everything crossed he gets us into the play offs this season, it would be another miracle, 'cos we'll spend bugger all again this season and it might see him start to get more credit outside of our own core 1500 who love him. (we've probably got 200-300 who will never give him anything at all, never mind credit)
I want him to be a championship manager again, I'd jump for joy if/when he manages it with us.
