God - could see Royston wanting a season ticket to Field Mill next season. He loves to see that sort of drama and a strong man in charge. I just hope they settled up with Big Ben ok, he may have been the straw that broke the camels back.

Don't this is a progressive forward thinking club,it was formed in 1897,sold the ground in 2008.bought back by the current owner in 2012,they played at field mill since 1946 , but now under sponsorship it is called [one call ] last manager Steve Evans ,[nice chap] quit 12 weeks before the season finished. Flitcroft had one full season in charge Club statement---despite a season of progress,we were unable to fulfill our objective of earning promotion. losing to a penalty shoot out.Club in shock and fans divided. John Demsey the new manager has run a successful youth team. this seems a knee jerk reaction-- [should supporters be worried] Been in league 2 since 2013/14 since being formed 1n 1897 been in non=league or lower divisions of the football league. 1 season they made it to the old 2nd division only to be relegated. I feel a NOtts County problem here. How can anybody looking at their record say this is a progressive club. Burton Albion fc 1950============Mansfield Town fc 1897. Which is the progressive club

I think it fair to say Mikeyboy, without any doubt, that Royston(Trent59.......... etc. doesn't go to games

I Wouldn't gloat about things too much. Ben Robinson won't be around forever, could be us in a few years. So back to the op.. Yes 100% We are living proof that having common sense is a must when running a football club. Trouble is owners nowadays get twitchy if they're teams haven't been a success within a fortnight.,
In terms of our success I'd say that as vital as Bens business sense is, it's been equally down to his great knack in manager recruitment. The perfect blend.

Forget Ben - what is that Mansfield owner thinking??
That's one of the worst decisions I've ever seen
Unless they can't afford to pay the wages any more?
But sacking a manager and backroom team costs money in compensation anyway??
Mansfield are doing great to be competing in the playoffs. What does he really expect from them?
And now he thinks an untested coach can do well because his youth team have done well
As it happens Mike Whitlow has recruited most of their youth players. A few are from Burton when they got released.
I wouldn't be surprised if Mike ends up caretaker manager of Mansfield at some stage next season when it all goes wrong for them

My take on it is, that like Bury before him, John Radford paid far more out than was affordable and gambled on Flitcroft and his team to bag promotion - it didn’t happen but now he’s not affordable. Glad we don’t do things that way.

I suppose if we are all prepared to accept mediocrity with no real expectations of anything better thats ok but thats not real progress is it. We were eliminated from the championship because if NC mismanagement nothing else and BR. Knows that.

Ten years since we've been in the league and looking back over that period plus the last two years in non league we've had 2 seasons of winning the league, 3 seasons getting to the play off's, one season finishing runners up and 2 seasons in the league below the Premier League. We've also appeared in a semi final with three teams who will be in the Champions league next season. All of this with a home fan base of 2,500 and years of making profit and remaining solvent. Not bad for a mismanaged club who aspires to mediocrity!

Out of the ball park I suppose its just the enbarassment of going 7 months without a home win and needlessly getting relegated because of the gaffas terrible selection policy and then spending months in the wrong half of Div1 and now flying by the seat of our pants in terns of our squad next season with the gaffa almost begging brays and bucko to stay on leads me to think we are no making any progress but more like making up the numbers
