Only 8 months in to a 3 year contract
I guess the moves he has made since leaving us have made him financially secure if nothing else

When you join the merry go round,,the money is , good but time is short. 8 months so they think you can turn a relegated club around in 8 months. The man responsible for failure is the chairman, failure starts from the top,i expect him to go, Stoke are in a tough league and stability is key,not panic and fear. 5 big clubs expect promotion,Stoke . thinking they could just walk this league, shows how out of touch club is, Bring back Pulis. Ipswich missing McCarthy

I'm a big fan of Gary (and JFH) but it's I think it's interesting to consider how they seem to have struggled when they didn't have the same coach / assistant manager with them compared to their time at Albion.
And of course they didn't have Ben.
Nigel's policy of keeping the managerial team together seems like a good one. In a similar vein it's no surprise that Phelan's return at Man U has produced a resurgence. It's not always about the front man.

I liked Gary in his stint with us but I do think it was unwise to jump ship from Derby, silly move and he left his mate Kevin Summerfield which I find very disloyal.

I'm guessing he'll be at the Etihad with his mate Nige tomorrow then? Or as these things go a pundit for Sky sports, move over Benty.

He'll walk into another job fairly soon, I'm guessing. Once you're on the merry-go-round, it must be hard to get off cos the money's amazing and most chairman.....well I don't want to finish that sentence.
One hilarious thing I heard on Radio Derby was from some journalist from Stoke. He said the fans hated 4-3-3 and kept hassling Gary to play 4-4-2. He played 4-4-2 the next game, they lost and then he (indirectly) blamed the fans for them losing - "Well, I tried it and we lost cos I knew it wouldn't work all along." or something like that.
I like Gary Rowett. Not just what he did for us but I always reckoned he was decent fella. I'd have played for him.
To be fair, the Stoke fans sound like a right bunch of planks. Of course, though, they've lost their rightful place in the PL (alongside Derby) and are quite upset that they're not at the top of league, 20 points clear, which is where they 'belong'.

Maybe Kevin Summerfield player a bigger role in the success generated than he was given credit for.

The pair of them certainly put together a tremendous group of players. A mix of other clubs cast offs, out of contract, free transfers etc. I wouldn't mind betting Summerfield had a huge input on that bearing in mind the clubs and area many of those players came from. I'm sure between Summerfield and Poole they'd find us a keeper worth a full time contract. That situation will arise again come the summer.

I think the trouble with Gary Rowett he seems to have taken bigger jobs on and not done his apprenticeship, he and JFH left nice first jobs and thought they could better themselves far too quickly. JFH a case in point more so Gazza, there's one thing being ambitious and another knowing when the time is right to step up.......money seems to be the driver in these decisions is all I can think of.

Well Stoke have replaced him with Lutons manager. Feels like he's "done a hasselbaink" and left them whilst they're doing well.

A football manager is a really tough career choice. The variety of different communication skills, technical football know how, ability to spot and develop talent, team selection, tactics etc. I could go on. In addition you need a good environment to operate in, time to develop your squad, and the key to the environment is the board and Chairman. That is why we are such a good football club for our size. That is why it is easier ( though still very difficult), to succeed at our club. Other clubs don't have the understanding and patience that Ben Robinson provides, so they don't get the time to succeed.

Since football has replaced horse racing as a sport for the filthy rich,Their is to much interference from the hierarchy.who interfere with transfers plus team selection,And the key board warriors love nothing more than a scapegoat.Looking at the big clubs there management turn over show what a complete mess their structure is Stoke expect to come into the Championship, with some big guns already shipping managers at a alarming rate, after a relegation sitting 8 points of the play off, sack Rowett after just 8 months, joining a club already in turmoil after relegation==Villa==Norwich==Sheff Utd==West Brom==Middlesborough==Nottm Forest==Birmingham= Q_P_R==Sheff WED, all looking for the holy grail. Before sacking managers owners should take a hard look at themselves, Derby County since 2013 have had 9 managers, and have spent millions=====Leeds Utd since 2010 have had 15 managers and of coarse spent millions I gave up after these two because all the top clubs have just changed managers and the filthy rich enjoyed the race just changed jockeys. One guy i know who does not like interference, and asks for full control in football matters.Does not fit the merry go round profile

They are a joke. Sacked at Birmingham and Stoke,Jumped ship from Derby in which he had a good chairman behind him.Perhaps Derby are a joke but to have a reasonable stable job and a chance to assemble a team in your own mould who cares if they are a joke.
