I have to say that I am immensely proud of our club and its achievements over the years and this season saw us win some fantastic games against big teams to get us through to the semi final of the league cup. Well done to all concerned. However, as somebody who gets pleasure from seeing the Brewers play well and win last night was a very chastening experience and one I don't want to repeat anytime soon. From the journey on the coach to the ground, and we were one of the "lucky ones" that just made it on time, to the climb up to our seats to the 90 minutes itself it wasn't a night I enjoyed. Nigel told us all to enjoy it and I think he was doing his best to keep spirits up but I just couldn't find it in me to enjoy seeing us thrashed in that way. No criticism of any of the players from me and the night was summed up for me in injury time when the ball went out for a goal kick and Bucko but both arms aloft as if to say "Yes! We are not going to concede 10!". I had actually been really fearful of this sort of outcome especially after they stuck seven past Rotherham at the weekend and so it turned out. Let's hope things can get back to normal on Saturday and we can roll over the Gills. I get all of that. Despite all that we passed the ball well at times. The half time pitch commentators at the game mentioned we got forward more In the 20 min spell after the first goal than Rotherham did all game. For the home game weve nothing to lose now. May as well just play as much good football as we can and go at them. Yes, I heard that said at half time and I agree we played quite well in between the first and second goals and clearly Marcus should have stuck that chance away which would have been great. Not really bothered about the second leg now and I would take the opportunity to rest our tired players or those carrying knocks as the game is sandwiched between two league games which should now be our focus.

Has with all cup competitions for a small club, the run comes to a end, Man City a club now established in world football, boasting europe's most expensive squad have shown the gulf in premier league clubs, and the top 6 are in a league of their own, with Man City leading the pack, Once more the Brewers were a passport to the next round, with a 2 leg semi the out come was assured, What happened was a massive liner going head to head with a rowing boat .Ben Turner said we are a small club in league 1 ,in this company we are tiny. To see so many of our heroes out of their depth, was painful, the space created by city every thing about them was class,When they lost the ball it was a insult and maximum effort by every player was utilised to win it back,The shame of not having the ball was just too much, World class players showing it all starts from hard work

I would have loved us to have had that same team at our place first leg. Might have been a little different. They made use of the biggest pitch in the country. Our small compact ground might have made a difference. Or perhaps not.

Whichever way you look at it we had to play at the Etihad and I said it would have been nice if we got them at the Pirelli first. I don't think we could have played any differently last night the gulf is there whatever team they or we put out. It just takes that feeling out of the second leg of, oh we have a chance! I just hope Pep sends a strong team down, the fans will appreciate that and enjoy it a little more, if enjoy is the correct term.
BTW I woke up this morning thinking of the Brewers losing last night and I never even went to Manchester. Watched on TV and wanted to switch it off when it was creeping up to 7-0 then 8-0. I stuck with it and even listened to the post match interviews which I don't normally do, I think Pep was embarrassed to have to answer questions put to him about the result and performance. He said he respected Nigels dad for all he has acheived in football, mentioning the two European cups he had won.
It's another chapter in our history, one to be proud of.

Immensely proud of the lads, tried to play our football, hardly a free kick all game. Played probably the best team in Europe who I felt also had the run of the ball which does not help, a fatal combination. Their passing and movement was sublime. Hope the boys do not feel too chastened and keep it all in perspective, I guess we will find out on Saturday.
Will be nice to get a result in the second leg - still searching for a ticket!

For our fans visiting the Etihad was a pilgrimage to a superb stadium celebrating what our club had achieved, reaching a semi final and sharing history again. What we got was a hold up on the m6,and tension just hoping to get to the game,The result was unexpected 9-0 wow.i expected to do better than Rotherham. But on the night i respect Man City for having a go,and was reminded of the gulf between us ,being a 9-goal difference shows how far we have come to be challenging them in a semi;final===worlds apart. My biggest disappointment was Harness with the goal at his mercy, time for a one touch control, and shot. saw the red mist that has plagued his career, and missed the goal completely,Thought he had moved on please hit the target, make the goalkeeper work, Most of Citys goals were not fantastic shots, just on target,

I never saw that as a 4 3 3. A definite 4 5 1 and generally more a 6 3 1 It was definitely 4-5-1 when City had the ball. Who cares what formation we lost end of.The gulf in class is savage, ridiculous in fact.I just hope this mauling has not knocked the good young players confidence and they hold there heads up and take it out on Gillingham.

More good will come out of that result than bad. It was a one off for us, a good experience for the young players. I hope the older players will already be saying to the youngsters, keep your head up learn from it and forget the scoreline. Well until we do it all again in the 2nd leg.

Mick, if you're still desperate to go, you can have mine. I only bought a ticket because I thought I ought to. Want to meet me on Saturday at the Pirelli? £20 I think.

I enjoyed the day. Went up with friends for a couple of beers, some laughs and a bag of chips. Amazed by the stadium and proud to see The Brewers playing there in a semi Final of a major trophy. Yes I hoped for a slightly less goal difference to take back to The Pirelli but Man City are awesome. Burton Albion played with passion, played football, tried to attack at every opportunity and whatever people say who don’t know the club, played with pride. I’m so delighted with them all and very happy to support this club. Many premiership teams will defend in numbers against City and we tried to give them a game. Forever a Brewer.

Hi Sinfin Bovril.
Happy to take your ticket but only if you are sure. I can meet you Saturday at the ground no problem, just say where and time. Thanks.

Man City win 6-0, opposition manager disappointed, walks down the tunnel, no handshake. Man City win 9-0, opposition manager disappointed, shakes hands, goes for a glass of wine or two. Pure class.
