All gone very quiet on the Quinn front. Wonder if he will sign? Hope his absence Wednesday all done to injury. it says on BAFC offical site that Quinn is "50/50" for tomorrows game. He has been out with injury. Hopefully Clough can secure his services for the rest of the season at least. Good player I like him.

He's one of the kingpins that makes it all flow. He's not contracted to anyone is he? It was a short-term deal.

Well we have freed up a few places in our limited squad numbers over the last few weeks with players being released back to parent clubs and one or two transferred. It seems based on what the manager has said is only interested in centre backs this window? This is either born out of frustration from Saturday or he means it. The next couple of weeks will be very interesting? It does seem very strange that NC thinks we can do better than what weve got. Opinions?

Very interesting regarding the centre back positions where arguably we have four players for two positions - Brayford, Turner, McFadzeen and Buxton - where all of them are likely to be available for Saturday. Nigel states we are trying to bring another one in which suggests that he has lost patience with a number of those four. They are all similar in that none of them are blessed with great pace and they are all the wrong side of 30. I had my reservations about the defensive options at the start of the season, more in terms of their ability to stay fit, and I wondered whether Nigel now feels we need younger blood in the centre of defence and also better ball players given we are now playing out from the back. Time will tell on that one. I would also like to see some alternative forward options where we have competition for Boyce. Whilst he general play is still of a reasonable quality he is not scoring the required number of goals in my opinion for a team that creates the chances that we are creating. I would imagine Boyce thinks he is a guaranteed starter as long as he is fit and maybe he has become complacent. I don't know but just a thought. Either way it seems like the decks are being cleared for some incomings so interesting times ahead.

I've said it before and I'll say it again...IMO Kyle is far and away the best centre back we have and the only one we shouldn't be looking to replace.

I could just be that the club are realistic on our current position and have given up on any chance of promotion this season. So BR may cut costs and who are the likely to be the high earner at the club?.... those players signed for the championship campaigns, Turner, Brayford, Kyle etc. Wouldnt surprise me if two of them or even the three went in January and are replaced by cheaper wages loaned players or unattached players. But the idea we are going to find better players for the money (wages) on offer is not likely imo

I'd be very surprised if we'd be displacing him short term with a long term view that he may not be around next season. There is a possibility he could be with us next season

That deal expires this summer.

I simply dont see us attracting better players than kyle ben and john brayford? NC โs criticism of them this week is unhelpful and some of his assertions about them are inaccurate also. I just hope his frustration about Saturdays result got the better of him?

Very interesting comments by Nigel after that game today where it sounded like a left back and centre half are coming in next week and both will be experienced. One to sign until the end of the season and one to the end of next season with both being permanent signings.
He implied that Reece would need a breather soon and that the incoming player would step in and give him a break. Having previously said that Kyle and Damo didn't make the 18 he finishes off by saying that a couple may have to be moved on "but that's football".
I don't think it would be any surprise to see Damo leave. After all, if Reece needs a break Damo is the natural replacement but if Nigel doesn't face him anymore then maybe that's why a new left back is coming in. As for the centre back position we already have four so if he was happy with all of them then surely he wouldn't be looking at bringing another one in. I have thought for a while now that Kyle will be on his way. We maybe be able to get a small fee for him with him being out of contract in the summer and I can't see him resigning as he will no doubt be one of the best paid players now and on wages we probably can't afford going forward.
So in my opinion based on Nigel's comments it will be two in and I think Kyle and Damo out.
As Nigel says "that's football".

I didn't hear the interview, so thank you for the update and for your thoughts. Both Ben and Kyle are on the same contract position aren't they? That is football, as NC and you say. Players understand it, managers have to make the decisions. Never easy, but I am sure there will be many ready to criticise. I remember when he let Lee Colkin go...

Great lads for us but teams have to evolve.
Iโm was hoping Cloughie could do something in this window to prevent the problems we have had in the last two Augusts with so many loans returning and players leaving for better contracts. He has had to build a side on the fly during the first 5/6 games of each season which has been difficult and gets the moaners off to a good season!
You need to be raring to go August 1st not September as Iโm sure he knows. I think he has done amazingly well to put the side together he has this season.
I suspect budgets donโt allow but ideally I was hoping he could solve the keeper situation as well now for next season because that issue will arise again come the summer.
No signs of offers for Boycey.

Re Boyce - I think the bigger and better teams than us will have recognised he's great at receiving and holding up the ball and laying it off etc but they need a striker who can do more than that himself
Certain things he is certainly top quality at. But he lacks pace and other things they will want from a striker at a better level than us

I tend to agree observer which is why I'd like to see him in a two up front but that doesn't really fit our strengths at the moment.
