I don't think we were over ambitious against Villa or Wolves just a little too open and maybe naive. ( maybe too hopeful of repeating last seasons upsets) .NC accepted responsibility after the Wolves game which says to me he regretted not going for brick wall "away" tactics, particularly after the Villa drubbing. Anyway , looking ahead, there has to be some points up for grabs in the next three matches, does anyone fancy us to pick up the 5 we need to get back to a point a game? We only got 1 point from these three fixtures last season!

I think 5 points and getting back on track would be a good target.

Wow bottom eight clubs picked up points this weekend, It shows how tight the championship is, our aim is clear, climb out off the bottom three. Before May, The good news for us, any point is a good point. The yellow brick wall is our strength ,our pride. We struggle to compete because it is not a level playing field. Our away draws Norwich--Q-P-R--Bristol, unbelievable. Proud to be a Brewer. Sordell--Varney--Mason--Akins--Scannell--Dyer All strikers. Boyce a tragedy. Opportunity's will come in games , but not often. The priority is to prevent top players in the championship space ,Leeds--Wolves--Villa have shown the damage they can do. Forwards==Midfield--Defenders--They are the yellow brick wall, A point a game gives us a chance, and Jan could be a turning point

If we don't improve before then and are adrift then the less likely anybody of any quality is likely to come to us in January. In my opinion we have to try and get better now and then send for reinforcements in January. I think Matty Palmer should be given another chance as if used correctly he is as creative a player as we've got.

I always do like Matty. But would we be a little lightweight with both him and Jamie Allen?

I always do like Matty. But would we be a little lightweight with both him and Jamie Allen? Possibly, but I think with both of them it gives us more opportunity of retaining the ball and getting further up the pitch. With Murphy sitting in front of the ageing back five that should give enough protection and better chances of creating. All we need then is for somebody to put one in!

Who are you starting in midfield then Annable? I think Allen, Palmer and Murphy are our three best players who can keep the ball well and also create. They could be accommodated as in three in a number of formations I.e. 3-5-2, 5-3-2, 4-5-1 or 4-3-3(less likely as that would be a bit gung ho for us). Less likely to be accommodated in a 4-4-2 as it would mean one of them playing out wide and we have better players for those positions. Just my thoughts as I think we need to find a way of keeping the ball more and getting further up the pitch and getting one of those elusive things called goals!

Quality strikers cost money, and we aint got any Bevan -Ogrady and Akins ,we are brought up on hard working strikers, but not prolific goal scorers. And if we found one, we could not afford to keep him, our defending got us here and our work ethic will give us a chance. It is still hard for me to think of Hull City being a big club, but they lured our Irvine away. Midfield middle 3==Murphy-Naylor-Palmer-Allen--Lund-Akpan,any 3 from 6------Murphy--Allen-Palmer, it is a hard call though

Our defence and certainly team ethic got us a long way last year Trevor but perhaps ultimately it was the poaching of Woodrow and the brilliance of Kightley that got us the handful of goals to get us the wins needed to stay up. We've got to find a way of keeping it tight and creating enough opportunities at the other end to give us a chance.

Surely there has to be a young up and coming striker from a lower division, Scotland or the Non-League game that we could gamble on in the January window - it’s only 2.5 months away now. Apart from Dinnanga, who Nigel obviously didn’t feel was quite ready as yet, anybody got any suspects?
I’ll throw a name in - Daniel McGuire of Blyth Spartans, 12 in 14 this season and 114 in 167 career games. An impressive total and still young enough at age 24.
