2 mistakes again, we lose 2-0. We don't score many so we can't keep gifting goals.

Yep Friday looking important now. Don't want to start wit 4 straight defeats. Let's hope for a couple of players in by then Ripley will start. Turner will come back. We will sign one or two good players. We have got Cardiff (3/3 wins) and two relegated PL teams away from home out the fixtures... easier times lie ahead! But Friday is paramount to getting momentum and confidence

Should be a piece of p*ss really. I don't know what Nigel is messing about at. I feel a strongly worded letter is in order...

From the highlights:
First goal - Buxton loses ball to concede possession, Steve concedes at near post - both relatively poor - most keepers are disappointed with that sort of thing
Second goal - Poor poor poor - it's not a lack of quality when 3 players stand waving their arms in the air asking for offside whilst the attacker rushes into the box to score a rebound. That's not class, that's not skill, it's just lack of concentration - this sort of thing annoys me.
Sending off - Looks harsh. He doesn't go in maliciously - appears to win the ball based on change of direction - not two feet off the ground studs up or a scissor challenge. Hope it gets revoked... I think we'll appeal.
Not sure we had an attack on the highlights lol
Any thoughts from those at the game?

Right then...
Imagine we lose on Friday....
We will have lost two games to two of the most respected managers (one of whom is sitting at the top of the table) in the country and two of last season's Premier teams. So what?
Yes, I'm gutted we're not in the playoffs but I'm a big boy. I'll get over it.
COME ON YOU BREWERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

would have thought if you're not going to get anything from a game the best thing to do is keep the attrition rate down. Ie avoid suspensions, avoid injuries and even rest players a.s.a.p. - damage limitation ?

Otherwise why would most of them kick the ball in the air for their 5ft 5 forwards to outjump 6ft 4 defenders, etc. And.....we'll....insert your own observations of stupidity on football pitches. Get onto the pitch then get sent off. Well done, brainache. Sorry, just a tiddly rant.

Just back. I don't want to sound like an irritating unrealistic optimist but who on here thought that we would get anything out of the first three games of the season even after just glancing at the 17/18 fixture list. Even last year it was apparent that the Championship was in three sub levels and we are definitely in the bottom one. In my opinion the teams that have come down from the Premiership this time are even stronger than last year, so it is bound to be a case of gritting our teeth more than last year. Our fate is going to be decided on the six pointers against teams around us. So yes I am very pigged off, so much so that I failed to avoid going to MacDonalds in Derby Road on the way home, but as far as I'm concerned our season starts on Friday.
Totally agree with Swervin's analogy by the way.

Not sure we had an attack on the highlights lol Any thoughts from those at the game? [ Frustratingly for large parts of the game we matched them. Their first goal came from nothing but as you've all seen, and worryingly it came from another mistake. At the minute we're masters of our own downfall and unless we stop giving the ball away in stupid places and too often, we'll be in serious trouble this season. So many times you'll see a relegated team look pretty decent in general play but then they'll lose 2 or 3 nil by throwing it away. To be fair, Boro do possess a lot of quality and in Gestede, Bamford and Assombalonge, they will murder teams better than us. We had 2 great chances at 1-0 down, Akins inches away from getting on the end of a back pass and Matty Palmer really should have scored from 8 yards out after our best move of the game, with Matt Lund picking him out really nicely. I didn't think it was a sending off and thought the ref was really poor all evening. Think Bywater could have done better with the first and think he was unlucky with the second. I don't trust or like Kyle and that's a rare feeling for me as I'm always positive about our own players. He's not right for us. Harsh and probably unfair but.... We desperately need Brayford back and I'm counting the days to when we can have Buxton, Bray and Turner as our back three. I expect Ripley to get a run of games starting Friday. Overall a meh evening.

Can't remember who it was but they said the difference between top players and the rest is if you tell a top player how you want him to play at the start of the season you won't have to tell him again. The rest you'll have to remind next week and the week after that and the week after that...

From the OS:
NIGEL Clough praised his team for the effort they put in against a quality Middlesbrough team.
The Albion boss said: "I thought the lads were brilliant tonight.
"We started the game well and we started the second half really well and were so unlucky with their second goal. We got men out to block the shot but it drops for them, Stephen Bywater makes a great save but it drops to them again.
"We were unlucky in so many ways. They had very few opportunities against us. We defended very well and we looked a threat on our breaks and with a bit more quality one of our chances goes in, then you never know.
"We had Turner, Boyce, Irvine and Warnock out and lost John Mousinho straining a hamstring yesterday. To come here without those five players and do as well as we did I can't tell you how pleased with the players we are.
"It's a frustration having those players out but we are pleased with the players who have come in and worked their socks off.
"We have played two of the relegated Premier League sides away from home so it's good to get those out of the way and it's two home games we are looking forward to now."
In terms of the red card for Hope Akpan, Clough said the Brewers might be "on the end of another harsh one".
"We certainly want to look at it again. The worst tackle of the game was after ten minutes on Matty Lund and Garry Monk agreed that was a red card."
Clough is hoping to add to his depleted squad before the transfer wndow closes and revealed after the game that he is attempting to bring striker Cauley Woodrow back in on loan.

Starting to get it right now, I said 3-0-- Oh it is little old Burton gone, Now we are a nasty little irritant, To be controlled and crushed, Bywater was always, which one do we get today, Being beat at the near post, pushing balls back into the penalty area, not advised. Golden oldies, are people who know what to do. But the bodies don't respond, The gulf in class in this league, was shown at Boro. Bad decisions in the final third, misplaced passes in midfield, and slow defenders, Leads to trouble, Don't worry every thing is going to be alright ,We enjoy were we are. We accept the challenges we face. We know the future is bright. And we thank our Players for giving one hundred per-cent.and I am proud of the 200 fans who made it to Boro in mid week.

Middlesbrough have spent FOURTY THREE million pounds in this window alone.
I retract any previous disappointment expressed at us losing only 2-0. It's a joke how much money's flying around.
